Not many young sharks make it through the first five years but the moyority dies do to the inhumane finning.

over 80% of all sharks have been killed by humans in the past 6 years. 200000000 a year 500000 per day!!!

I just ate shark at my college cafeteria in Indiana USA. It was not a delicacy or anything.

Considering the chinese treat it as an expensive delicacy, we probably eat more shark than them.

cos they live a lot longer, the longer the life of the fish, the more mercury it accumulates.Thats why it's safer to eat fast maturing fish like salmon.

They contain so much mercury because it needs days for an organism to neutralize the methyl-mercury of a single fish.

But a shark eats dozens a day. so their level of methyl-mercury(which is thousand times more dangerous than elemental marcury) is ca. 10000 times higher than the level of their prey. (I appologize for my bad english)
