The only thing "Good" about Tucson Arizona_Is Old Tucson Studios..I know I lworked there while Gunsmoke was being Filmed.And I lived in Tucson Arizona.
@foxxyred2001 Lucky you! Part of my childhood - all of us so opinionated, but in agreement about Gunsmoke :-D Fine memories...my daughter is named Amanda....Miss Kitty/ Amanda Blake.
@mnpd007 Those radio shows are awesome. One is a rehearsal for the episode "New Hotel," when the cast cracks each other up. One thing that isn't available that I know of is a recording where Matt and Kitty finally get the deed done, after all their years of not doing it on the radio.
Don't forget the radio show Gunsmoke on which the TV series was based on, starring William Conrad as Matt. It ran 1952-61 and even overlapped the TV show by 6-years. You can download the episodes online... 400+ of them. Conrad was bitter over not being selected for the TV role, but was too fat and short... Arness got the job.
I would like for them to play this theme song as they are wheeling my casket out of the church to my grave site. I saw gunsmoke when it first came on TV. I never missed the show and I don't miss the reruns. James Arness and crew are the greatest in westerns. Keep them going...

Gunsmoke had more acts of violence than any show ever made. Lets be real it is sometimes neccessary to become violent to defend what is yours. Bill collectors,are the same today as crooks back then.We must take a stand against people like that today.
I grew up in the 50's watching Gunsmoke and other Westerns. I, too, can't watch these videos or reruns in color. My world as a child was black and white and lots of greys. In many ways, I never left the comforts of that era.
@TheSunmanho Color is not the point, but I point to the color as a distraction. The stories were better, I agree. I remember it was on Saturday evening, right after Have Gun, Will Travel. Miss Kitty rocked my world even as an 8 year old. :)
When I was about nine, and I had to go to be just as "Gunsmoke" came on, I would try to stay up late enough to overhear this theme song coming from my parents' bedroom. It was my lullaby on Saturday nights.
wow man! it's been for ever since I heard the entire version of this classic!

love it... same theme they used on the radio version,, give them a listen too, the lack of video gives the scripts a whole new meaning at times...

@Tigermoon1950
the color is not the point.
but the old episodes were shorter, more to the point, hard-boiled man stories! the color episodes were so family friendly almost soap operas.
