  • @Billman248 What?

  • Hardee's!

  • Hal Smith is the announcer at :13.

  • Have You Ever Noticed Burger Chef Kinda Looks Like A Skinny Version Of Peter Griffin Off Family Guy?

  • @firefoxy2010 Absolutely, the difference being instead of having a set of balls for a chin, he has a penis for a nose.

  • I remember the Burger Chef in Rantoul Illinois. my opinion, one of the best B.C. I have been too.

  • shit, that girl is easily impressed.

  • That's some magic trick alright.

  • Hmm there is a werewolf but at the end of the commercial the moon isn't full. : /

  • I remember they used to give out little thin square plastic records with their happy meals. Back when a fun meal actually came in a box and it was actually not a class c felony to eat a fried goddamn hamburger. Back then a kid was happy to get a fun/happy meal cuz you didn't get a chance to eat out like that every damn day. Nowadays alot these parents live and die by that shit and kids won't eat shit unless it comes from a fuckin value menu.

  • My Mom actually got a Magic Meal before. Unfortunately, 1982 or 1986 killed Burger Chef, their burgers look SO GOOD!

  • I worked at a Burger Chef in 1976,while in high school,cool!

  • The boy is a young Steve Buschemi

  • I remember Burger Chef! I loved the fun meals when I was a kid

  • They had the best fish sandwiches.

  • Does anyone have a explanation why they went out of business ? Im from Australia but intriged

  • The Burger Chef chain was purchased by General Foods Corporation in the late 1960's. Faced with not being being able to financially support the chain's growth, General Foods sold Burger Chef to Hardee's in 1982. Hardee's then converted company owned units to the Hardee's brand and also forced franchisees to do the same. The end of a great American brand.

  • @Del655 Lets see here, in remembrance of a couple or a few Great American pastimes of the 1970's and before (my childhood era)that are now gone, but will never be forgotten: Hardees destroyed and phased out Burger Chef into extinction (one of the great burger shacks; and Vince McMahon destroyed professional wrestling forever (at least indefinitely). There are other great american pastimes, but I will discuss them later.

  • @obaeng vince killed the territories including my beloved portland aka pacific northwest wrestling and wal mart killed the mom and pops... 1945-1980 americas golden years....

  • @Del655 In adding on to my last comment, I remember going to the Burger Chef branch restaurant when I was a child growing up in the 1970's (1974-1977(approx.)).It was located on Brook Road across from Azalea Mall in my hometown of Richmond,Virginia. My mom and dad when he had a car would take us, and we would go with our aunties after leaving the mall. Today, neither the mall nor the Burger Chef restaurant exist.

  • @Del655 I dont remember these in Southern California. Were they here in the 60's or 70's?

  • Yes, they were in California I know in the 60's and 70's. They were almost as large as McDonald's at one point. Go to Google images and type BURGER CHEF ANGELO'S to see an original building in Anaheim still being used. I tried posting a link to an image, but youtube wouldn't allow it.

  • @Del655 O.K. now i remember. Thats to say i remember the buildings. Other businesses occupied them when i was a kid. I am 47, but i dont remember the burger chef, but there are still many of the original buildings around So. Calif. If my memory serves me, there is a tasty freeze occupying and old burger chef building on Azusa Ave, in covina, Ca. Now a donut shop. God Help Us!!! Thats all we need, another donut shop.

  • @Del655 Started in Indianapolis by two brothers who invented a chain-driven open flame broiler. For a while, they were great.

  • @Del655 O I C

  • @Del655 Did they have these in FLA? I have vague memories of eating at a place like this with my dad when he took me to daytona.

  • @barmtrail IDK

  • @Del655 RIP Burger Chef

  • burger chief was bought by hardees

  • @hardyboyzrko hardee's once ran here in oz under the harTees name in the early 70's. i wonder why it failed here

  • @mat2000100 Ahh cheers for that, I will have a bit of a look

  • @hardyboyzrko IDK

  • Burger Chef originated the "Fun Meal," which McDonald's later stole and renamed "Happy Meals." Burger Chef sued, but lost the case.

I have to wonder, however, if Burger Chef itself ever got sued for using the "Have A Nice Day" Smiley Face in its logo sign.

  • they oughtta bring the franchise back. But it would be just as pathetic as all the surviving squirrel meat burger joints like McDonald's, Burger King and the bottom of the barrel, Wendy's. Who knew that boiled french fries would actually pass the FDCA standards? YUK! Nuke 'em all, I say! Oh, Burger Chef-We hardly knew ye.

  • I remember eating at Burger Chef as a kid. I grew up on the southwest side of Indianapolis, and I remember there used to be one on W. Washington St. Wow! The last of a dying breed. The best i can remember, their food was pretty good....Loved all the old Burger Chef and Jeff commercials too. To whoever posted this, Thanks for the memories!!!

  • I'd give almost anything for a SuperChef right about now.

  • I LOVE it! I actually remembered Burger Chef's LAUGH at the end, but can't remember where I put my cell phone last night...how scary is memory?

  • Yeah I can remember things from 30 years ago in detail, but blank-out on the names of people I know now!

  • @Del655 Me 2

  • @Dasprite222 IDK, Less Scary?

  • What I liked the most about them was, you could doctor up your burgers yourself. I used to get a regular cheese burger and put all the fixin's on. Mabey that's what drove them out of business. lol.

  • Oops; I can still remember when the first BC opened up on N. Main Street, Dayton, OH (in the Forest Park area which used to be an amusement park and stock car race track). It was right around the corner from Loos Elementary School (which is about to be torn down); in the 1950's it was the "cool" place to have your Mom come pick you up at school and take you to eat!

    M.D. Austing

    Dennison, OH

  • 1st of all I am not someone that eats fast food much (maybe twice a month)

BUT it beat the hell out of Mcdonalds or any other chain.

Simple reason, their food was not greasy, they did a flame broil thing but unlike Burger king, wasn't so smokey tasting.

Probably the best fast food chain I have ever visited.

It shut down around 1978 and became Hardess, bla!

  • When I was a kid I had some flexi-disks that had Burger Chef and Jeff encountering various monsters. Wolf Burger (I think) and a witch and a vampire...? I might even still have one or two around somewhere.

  • oh my god. i want that foooooooooddd!!!!!

  • Wow! I totally forgot about this restuarant chain until I ran I across t his video. I totally remember this commerical.

  • myspace. com/burgerchef09

  • Anyone interested in reviving Burger Chef should e-mail river west brands site and let them know that you support them in their case against hardees and tell them I want my Burger Chef. and let hardees know that your mad and that they should requinlish any rights of it to see case go to wikipedia and search Burger Chef and click the first external link

  • You mean Hardees used to be Burger Chef?

  • Hardee's bought Burger Chef in 1982 or 83 and converted most of them to Hardee's. I think a few random Burger Chef franchises held out for awhile but I believe the last one closed in the mid 90's.

I remember the commercial when I was kid ... they had pretty good spots but the branding and the company itself were pretty haphazard (I worked there in high school in the early 80's). Too bad -- the food was pretty good as fast food goes.

  • I think I only went to Burger Chef once, maybe twice because I was little. There was one at the end of my grandmother's street. It closed in 1984.

  • To moproducer & hamtrak ...IT'S A TIE!!!

Both Paul Winchell & Hal Smith "shared " the voice over duties of Burger Chef.

Check out Buger Chef Commercial/vampire to hear Paul Winchell in action!

  • I miss throwing all of my trash out of the window of my mother's station wagon when I was finished.

    good times.

  • Thanks for the memories. When we were kids parents would take us to Burger Chef.

  • Good times, good commercial of halloween, but I prefer my celebration of my country Mexico, Day of the dead.

  • <3 i love u LOVE MEEEEE g

  • omg i'm gunna bring burger chef back...i'm gunna call it B.Y.B Build Your Burgers..or maybe i'll keep thinkin about the name

  • I used to love Burger Chef ! Had not thought about these in over 20 years

  • ah the funmeal! havent seen that in ages! for those of you who forgot, or werent born yet, the funmeal came first, NOT the happy meal! mcdonalds ripped off burger chef!

  • @VodeoJMC63 I wasn't alive during that time but I was just hoping to prove you wrong and I couldn't. BOOOO :)

  • @VodeoJMC63 OMG!

  • Best hamburger ever, grew up eating these in Olney, Illinois in the 70's, wasn't like that greasy crap they slop out now.

  • Voice over is The Andy Griffith shows, Hal Smith, AKA Otis Campbell.

  • Wrong...Burger Chef was voiced by none other than the great Paul Winchell.

  • Comment removed

  • Einstein says that the voiceover was done by Winchell. Go sit down before you hurt yourself.

  • Burger Chef way long before Hardee's killed the burguer with roast beef!
