To answer QT's question how the film will live up in 30 years:
It's been 16 years and the movie is STILL an amazing piece of work. It goes to show how you don't need special effects up the wazoo to make a great film. Just great cinematography, a tight script, good editing and AMAZING quotes you'll never forget....PF will rule until the end of time.
@Joelomite Youre right of course. A film can have the best special effects at its release time, but a year later its obsolete if there is no good story behind. I mean, stuff like Avatar... in maybe 5 years 3D filming will be normal for all CGI/effects films.
@DorianVasco, I watched about 1 hour of Avatar and had to leave. Wasn't bored, just had to unfortunately do something else.
Anyways, in that 1 hour that I watched it, it was so damn preach, environmental and "let's hump the trees" hypocritical, that I wanted to VOMIT. I love Cameron's films, but he's been on a tree-humping extravaganza lately.
Yes, the story always wins. Look at Godfather & the original Terminator. The story and execution is what put them over the top, over 20 years ago.
Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, Goodfellas. The greatest American films of the 90's.
