How the hell did Simper get his hair so huge? Or if not Simper then whatever team of structural engineers he employed on it. Because it's not just huge, like an afro, but huge and straight. It's weird because it seems to be falling straight off his scalp but that'd make his skull about twice normal size. Is there some sort of structure under it? Some contrivance, a wooden or plastic hair-platform or something? Or was he in fact naturally elephantocephalic or something?
truly - the whole playboy attitude was always salacious and condescending - like a dirty old man who takes up nude photography pretending it's art -- Hefner is a laughstock, though he's not really funny -- better to ignore the old fart, he'll use up his fortune paying women increasing fees to have sex with him as he gets crustier and more repellent - still more sex than I'm likely to be having though ;-P
@SupernalOne the lie of hedonism is that it forgets to tell you how numbing and soul crushing decadent excess is, i seriously doubt his body can even perform sexual acts anymore but his mind has to be utterly desensitized to the ability to even enjoy erotic love..or even lust anymore, he's just numb and decrepit, spoiled ad futile.
good point - there was even some Roman hedonist (I vaguely remember) who said that feeling love was to be avoided, since it distracted from maximum appreciation of the physical sensations - hell, I've never employed a prostitute (or wanted to), it's creepy to get that intimate with a total stranger - and casual sex has consequences - disease, abortion, unwanted children, heartbreak, inability to love - yes, I totally agree with you - sex is great, but with one partner at a time
I think it's funny & typical that the only black man, which was very cool & tres chic to have dancing, had to be dressed in a tux where every white hippy there wouldn't be caught dead in such "establishment" garb. Still, an awesome time capsule and a great song. I play the organ & do this song in a band. I was surprised John Lord was played the solo with his right hand, & not playing with his left. In the studio version, you hear two parts. Is he lazy live or overdubbed in the studio?
This video/song is one of the best examples of how a very moderate voice can ruin a band, and (on the other hand) a beautiful one (Gillan's ) may lead it to the stars.
@dali9803 - Couldn't agree with you less. The original Deep Purple has never been surpassed by any subsequent version of the band, despite the commercial success that followed the departure of Nick Simper and Rod Evans. A perfect example of how commercial success is in no way related to how great a band is. However, to each, their own.
Hi Joe South Fans! See Joe South at the beginning of AVM's new 'Hush' video (posted on YouTube). Joe graced us by playing his original intro on our 2011 re-release of his classic! Joe says of AVM's version, "It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up!" Thank you, Joe. You are an amazing man! God Bless!
Oh, why DP can't came in L'viv?(Ukraine)....Only Kiyv, Odessa etc. In L'viv many bands plays rock after DP influences...Welcome, everybody! Hope, You like our alive rock stuff!
Live recording in those days was much worse than it is today.. They simply couldn't mix the instruments' gain, they had only what the few mics picked up, basically Surprises me, that it even sounds stereo.. :o)
Sound is still tough to duplicate.. But they are getting much better at it, IMO.. I mean come on, we're talking 1968!!

Hugh Hefner makes himself out to be a champion of free speech - maybe so, but he did it all so he could get laid and get paid -- well, it worked
