  • Excellent stuff, the sight and sounds are spectacular. 47,s at their best.

  • Wow Liam! Can't believe I haven't seen this before! Awesome stuff! You're a magnet in terms of getting performances off the drivers!!!

  • The `BEST` thrash video on Youtube i have ever seen! If Carlesberg made thrash then these would be the best locos in the world!!!!!!!!!

  • Thankyou very much. Was absolutely magical to witness! No matter what he drives, you can garuntee ultimate thrash! But this, was the best i've witnessed. Ever! Can't help but laugh at your Carlsberg comment ;-) Maybe Tractors for him next time? :)

  • @hstman14 5*

    what does ECS mean

  • Empty Coaching Stock

  • I was on that tour. Did it to Bristol enroute for a week in Devon.

  • An absolutely 5* video with awesome soundtrack! Now a Fav video and lovely to hear the Sulzer beat and the Class 47 horn under the roof! Many thanks for posting this one.

  • Favourite That! Absolutely immense video!

  • great stuff m8 :) thanks joe

  • first class video ! imagine 2 "TOP LINK" locos doing that job in steam days ! AS FOR THE DRIVER HE WAS BRILLIANT !

  • Thanks! I agree driver made this video!

  • THAT WAS BRILLIANT ! WELL DONE !!!

I WONDER IF THIS DRIVERS DAD WAS A GWR MAN

IMAGINE TWO CASTLES LEAVING FOR LONDON FIFTY YEARS AGO ! ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOs I HAVE SEEN BUT THERE ARE A LOT MORE OUT THERE including the 20s and 40s

  • Thanks! Well, I've seen the driver on numerous occasions! He's fantastic, certainly had 'The Crank Factor' for many years! I agree, much more exciting locos than these out there, but I certainly wasn't going to complain!

  • top stuff , nothing like the sound of a big sulzer opening up !!! i remember being pi**ed off if one turned up instead of a 50 or 45 , but now i realise what a top machine they really were , superb noise .

  • I was never around for that era, but i've never been impressed by 47s before this day, now they are brilliant!

  • I disagree mate. I once saw a class 40 open up hard, light engine, through Wakefield Kirkgate from a signal check and it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Happy days.

  • fair go , whistlers were hard machines but the 47 noise just seems a better mix of throaty roar and turbo scream ,i think maybe i just appreciate the sulzer more now im [a lot!!!] older.

  • Couldn't agree more, the whistler is 'The Ultimate' diesel locomotive. The sound that they produce makes you grow goosebumps!

  • Nice vid - good to see a tripod being used, especially when many vids on here look like they were taken using a mobile phone while practicing for the national pogo stick championships. Good thrash!!!

  • Hehe! Thanks very much!

  • Thats the best piece of class 47 footage i've seen in a long time.

  • Thankyou very much

  • i love 47s, great vid there. 5*

  • It was good to have some locos on my pltform, we where short on time and all the water tanks were nakerd at BTM. After the Driver spoke to the pannel we ran around and got it 2barton hill, it was close to time but it was dispached bang on time, Thanks drive for giving it the beens!!

  • Oh my :| a 47 video is actually quite good with the throttle and horns :O

    Good vid :D

  • THEY AINT DUFFS, THEY'RE SPOONS!

    5*

  • haha i know who was driving "The maruader" :D

  • Haha, yh I wish! Although I'm not complaining with the driver that did!

  • thats the only way to drive 47 full throttle and blasting of the horn at every oppertunity

  • CHRIST! Nice one Liam, that driver's like my mate with 37216, flat out!

    5* & fav

  • Excellent, when I saw a few people filming I knew it'd end up on Youtube! Shame you call them 'duffs' though, these clips show people just how anti-duff 47s actually are.

  • Ah rite, were you on the tour or just photing? Yh I don't really like using that term either but it sounded better than spoons I felt. To be honest I don't really like 47s, but these were quite special! And have changed my opinion on these 'interesting' locos.

  • I'm a tour steward with Compass Tours. Was highly entertaining at Bristol thanks to the double run round because of the lack of 66!

Everyones entitled to like what they want etc, but to me it seems a lot of the disregard for 47s seems to come from 'my mate says theyre rubbish' lol, which is a bit of a shame.

  • Tour Steward, well that must be an interesting job, plenty of traction and excitement with that company! Ah yes, the driver was telling about the 66 'going bang'! 47s I feel are those diesels you like or hate, as long as people respect others opinions it's ok. And yes it is a shame. Thanks for comments by the way. Appreciated.

  • wow it pulled out evs mighty quick and thrash n' clag! absolutely amazing footage! a well deserved 5 stars

  • A very special video - great.

  • legendary driver

  • Whoa - that driver was a legend, and those spoons were monsters! 5*!

  • For someone like myself, who's nt the biggest spoon fan! I was dead impressed! And Thanks! :D

  • the driver must have enjoy the run around then lol

  • wow what a fantastic driver! he must have been enjoying himself alot by the looks of it. Great video!

  • Yh It must have brought him back to the good old days!

  • Holy smoke! Certainly alota Sulzer action!
