  • Snare sounds fantastic--not sure what people are talking about. Needs no reverb!

  • Am I the only one that actually likes the snare sound? IMO, just needs a tad bit of reverb

  • that's right superior drummer i can play this with one foot too.

  • That snare is thinner than paper

  • man this program have 18 GB!!

    WTF!

  • The rhythm makes my brain hurt just like The Exquisite Machinery of Torture does.

  • I tried playing air drums to this.

Needless to say, I broke my air drums.

    ಠ_ಠ

  • Sorry if someone already asked but which snare drum were you using on this kit?

  • thats whats up!

  • Very cool man.

  • EZX Metalheads sounds better imo

  • One thing I noticed about Lars's snare on St. Anger was that he uses it less frequently. He used it sparingly and tastefully at times to say something with it. If the album had less original drumming with something closer to a simple back-beat, THAT would have been annoying as hell. That's my observation for the day.

Anyway thanks for posting this video. Well done

  • No ghost notes.. I still hear them in my head, though. :)

  • i finally leant im postin this intro on drums tomoz

  • hey man i dont know what everyone else is saying the snare sounds cool, really packs a tight punch i wish i had that snare

  • The sound of a snare hasnt pissed me off this much since St. Anger.

AND I'M LOVING EVERY SECOND OF IT.

  • @roundhousekicker88 I should of sampled the St. Anger snare instead. xD

  • @Gordongaming do it!

  • @roundhousekicker88

I can't stand that Metalheads keep complaining about the StAnger-snare, just because it's different.

I mean, are you into Metal or what? That snare punches you right in the head and I love it.

All those weak poppy piccolo-snares rather piss me off.

Just like this one indeed, you hit it and the sound's gone within half a second or whatever.

It's like "Did you hit it in the center?!" or something. :P

  • @DamageIncM Lol that was just a joke. I loved the St. Anger snare. And I think piccolo snares sound great if you accent them, and they're perfect for ghost notes and whatnot.

I'm one of those rare metalheads that actually liked the whole St. Anger album, besides Frantic anyway. That song's just annoying..

  • @roundhousekicker88

    Oh, OK.

It's just that ever since the album came out I didn't see anything but complaints about the snare for the last 8 years. :P

Good for you that you like it. I like it too. Very raw and in-your-face. :P

As for Piccolo-snares, they can have their use of course, but I generally think they're not suitable for Metal.

They tend to fall into the background and it makes the music less strong.

  • @roundhousekicker88 hahaha you mean the tin can snare? PONG PONG

  • snare sucks

  • Could you tell me your settings more or less? at least the bass drum beacuse it sounds very damn well

  • hi hats, snare, I really dont give a frick MESHUGGAH PWNS including drum and 8-bits!!! I like this version.

  • Can't hear the snare ghosts? I can hear them clear as day on the album.

  • @Deathz0r94 Presumably he didn't add them in. It's not like this is the original drum track.

  • bass kicks are great but snare is weird

  • @Bodomism There is no reverb or compression on the snare. It is a very dry mix.

  • GOD that fucking snare is annoying haha.

  • how do you change the drum set ups?

  • is the visual hits feature possible on superior?

  • 2:48 i'm pretty sure he doesn't close the high hat and keep doing double bass...

  • @lifeside091 Hakke has 2 hi-hats, his left one is closed the entire song, while his right hat is open

  • @Gordongaming (even then... i wouldn't put it past him haha)

  • @lifeside091 Umm i know for a fact he does, obviously your not too familiar with this song

  • @CondorEagleWing cool story bro

  • @lifeside091 You can either set up a constantly closed second hi-hat, or get a hi-hat lock pedal (I doubt that's the actual name but that's essentially what it is) to make closed hi-hat and double bass possible.

  • @Xyleera8 i know, im just saying that the one used in this song sounds like his foot is on the pedal.

  • I can play the first part of this song before the change up of bass patter, but I just cant fuckin keep up with it. Takes too much coordination lol.

  • @XHesterXPrynnX the second pattern is much easier to play than the regular xxx-x-xxx-x!!!

  • amazing job man

  • That snare is fucking awesome.

  • If I'm not mistaking, the actual song itself was made with Drumkit From Hell.

  • @easternhero255 no. it was a song by thomas haake. haakes kit was sampled and is now the drumkit. bleed uses small sections from this but the actual song is haake

  • @6mini6ulrich6 Good to know that.

  • Comment removed

  • I guess it's hard even to pull this of even when using a machine... :P

Does this Superior Drummer work with Cubase? seems pretty cool

  • Good job:D

  • Hey, how did you get a second bass drum?

  • wow this is way better than ezdrummer

  • @stengner if you read at the top it says "The metal foundry"

  • No effort needed the MIDI that comes with DFH and MetaHeads is Pre Programmed to Play a few Mesuggah songs. You did not program this it's part of the MIDI library for these products. I know because i have them :)

  • @FilGee100 Metalheads EZX came out November 1st, 2010, I made this video well before that came out

  • @FilGee100 also this is neither metalheads nor the DFH. its the metal foundry in superior drummer. I know because i have them <3

  • that does sound better..~~

  • Sounds fcking Epic!

  • This sounds exactly like his drum cam version!!!

  • Man those drum samples sound fucking epic.

  • how the f do you trigger the drums?? been searching everywhere. freakin awesome playing btw!

  • @MrBewized I actually had a hard drive failure, which had the preset and project file on it, so unless I can one day fix the drive, I don't have it. But if you just want an mp3, try a youtube - mp3 converter or something, I might actually have the mp3 hidden somewhere on my iPod, which I might upload to mediafire and post a link for it

  • @MrBewized Yea man, though some parts I copied and pasted because they repeat, but everything else I transcribed

  • COOL

  • I find this song actually quite easy to play on drums, not to sound cocky or anything. its just one of those songs that came really easily to me, i find it alot easier than most other meshuggah

  • @Synetik4 Definately easier than other meshuggah songs, try the chorus in Stengah on drums XD

  • @Synetik4 errrr it took the drummer 2-3 weeks to be able to play this beat? i don't think you're playing it right, proof or gtfo.

  • @dancegavindance23 fine ill upload a video of me playing the beat tonight

  • @Synetik4 okay, holla at me when you do, if you do.

  • @dancegavindance23 just for your information, tomas haake is one of my biggest influences, i wasnt talking shit on him at all. My band just got back from a gig so my drums arent set up yet, ill do it tomorrow during the afternoon when i get back from work

  • @dancegavindance23 ok so i recorded the video just now, my uploading system is fucked right now, so if you want to send me your email adress i can send it to you, otherwise you'll have to wait a few days until i actually have time to figure out what happened.

  • @Synetik4 lol i'm not sending my email address to you dude. i'm happy to wait :)

  • @Synetik4 It's really easy actually. It's just being consistent that's the problem - with me at least. Nothing a little practice can't fix though.

  • @Synetik4 Look up a video of Haake actually playing it. he's doing a shuffle on his hands along with the rest of the patterns.

  • @drumsdistortion yes i play it with the ghost notes incorporated as well. im really not trying to brag or anything,

  • i got the metal death but i need a program the ez drummer to be working :(

  • You should totally add some reverb to the snare. It's way to dry!

  • i want your presets!! :D

  • I was gunna get SD over Ezdrummer but i was told SD takes lots of space

  • after this....superior drummer crashed ..

  • @lvmdrummer92 my whole computer crashed, actualy

  • @Gordongaming lol xD only bleed can do that =D

  • @Gordongaming I'm actually a little surprised it didn't unplug itself and then proceed to commit suicide right in front of you.

  • @Gordongaming Just letting you know that the ghost notes don't matter because there not in the song. He only plays them live just to show how bad ass he is.

  • @Gordongaming My computer crashed too.

  • @FeedThyMonster Haha You cry?I faint.lol

I can play most of the song but just the rythm and not all the notes. Its freakin intense. The silent measure is fun cause it requires precise counting until it hits the jazz-fusion metal style solo.

  • @FeedThyMonster Actually he only used Drumkit from Hell as an auxillary source but he did perform the song himslf in the studio. The song itself took as long to record as all the songs put together. So basically he spent 3 months doing this song alone. The whole band actually.

  • Hey, help? How can you use superior drummer in FL? And good job :)

  • if only real acoustic sets could sound like this! lol nice.. sounds so clear and sounds just alike

  • dude....yes!

  • Comment removed

  • I mistaken the title for you just using EZ drummer but calling Hakke a superior drummer =']

  • Altleast this one doesnt have a masquito guitar lol that guy was a tard

  • Should have used the Bleed preset!

  • CHEESE AND RICE my feet hurt just listening to this

  • Drums sounds like a bad ass Harley Davidson!

God bless Thomas Haake, and god bless Sweden for this wonderful music.

  • Yeah, MetalHeads also has a MIDI of this track programmed by Haake :D

  • @uppskirt I only heard of that expansion about 2 weeks ago

  • @Gordongaming

Never mind, the fun is in figuring out the beat anyway, not uploading it :)

  • 3:21 DununununDununununDunununDUNNURRR!!!

  • EPIC

  • Pretty good, but if you want the real meshuggah sound, get MetalHeads EZX for easy drummer. SD overall is better, but metalheads has that meshuggah sound... if thats what you want.

  • whats the point of doing this?

  • @JDilla2812 it helps people like cloudkicker make delicious music.

  • How does this program work exactly? do people create this or can u import songs and it copies the drum track..

  • Sounds tight as fuck!

  • Did you use Hakee's Drumkit from Metal Foundry or are these your own presets?

  • As a bass player...this doesn't help because I can't hear the bass in the actual song.

  • @pet3rgriffin

can you hear anything else except drums?

  • @jon1151 I meant in the song you can't hear bass..not in this.

  • @pet3rgriffin the bass just follows the guitar,as it does nearly all the time in meshuggah

  • @cynicown lol Still fucking hard.

  • @pet3rgriffin haha very true, they are a tad inhuman

  • @cynicown Oh yes just a bit :P

  • is this just superior drummer samples or did you buy an add on, like drum kit from hell or something?

  • @sk8monster112 Metal Foundry. DKFH is old. This is from '09. It's Superior.

  • It's okay if you didn't add the ghost notes, since Haake don't put them there when he plays the track on purpose. He discovered it himself when a friend of mine asked if he plays written ghost notes on this song. He tried playing the song and suddenly realized he actually played ghost notes!! He had no idea until then. They come per automatics.

  • How did you get two bass drums on superior?

  • I have easydrummer, do I need to upgrade?

  • Would love to get the midi files for this

  • Do i actually hear ghost notes ?? ^ ^

  • what program is this its not EZdrummer is it ??

  • @admiral8toes SUPERIOR Drummer

  • Wow this is good!, just one minor thing... between 1:10 and 1:18 you made a couple of mistakes... the drums are actually the same pattern, the thing that does that little change is the guitar but is you look carefully Haake is doing the same thing.

  • @Obliaxe *if

  • @Obliaxe Sorry, but you're wrong. Haake does change with the Guitars! This version is right! ;) But that was a part I inspected more carefully, previously! :D greetz

  • @NoStickTricks Lol! you're right... it does change! thanks, Haake is really messing with my head right now xD.

  • Nice fucking job dude!!! Tomas would be proud.

  • I'd love to record with something better than "T4 RiffWorks" But i'm too lazy to use FL Studio or so :D

  • good job, but those ghost notes do make a difference. Mix is a little dry and unbalanced... nonetheless keep up the good work!

  • help.. how do you do the cymbal chokes?

  • @hellgrowl There is a special note that does makes the sound

  • @Gordongaming Can you send me your Superior Drummer preset please? Thanks in advance!

  • @hellgrowl use the envelope, or automation

  • I approve of your method

  • thanks man :D perfect backingtrack to learn this song!

  • it would be cool if you could make the same live break thomas does live at 1h41 i always stumble upon that sudden change

  • This is groovin'.

  • awesome!!! extremely accurate!!

that being said, do excuse my ignorance,i am not very educated on softwares, so how exactly does this software work? you can program your own drum tracks with just the computer right?

  • dude this snare sounds amazing there all pricks..

  • whose playing this or is the machine interpreting the audio track...can you explain.. 'cause its awesome.... man or machine? {sanre or snare} (in your descriprtion) lol

  • @BigBearVids Wowo, I didnt notice that LMAO and yes it is a machine obviously

  • @Gordongaming Yeah got it--- machine.. But whose imputting the snare hits and dbl bass cymbals hits...etc ? You, a Human..?. or does the program transrciibe it and just play it..? I know it has great drum sounds-- BUT if you manually did that ~that's freekin awesome transcribing / tabbing !! yo !

  • @BigBearVids FL Studio has this thing called a "Piano Roll" which allows you to input whatever notes you want to be played. I did make this all manually but some parts I had to copy/paste cause it is really repetitive at some parts

  • this snare sucks but overall nice

  • @nhkid1010 whats wrong with this snare it sounds pretty good nice tight and explosive it sounds just like Tomas Haake's snare what r u talking about

  • @Z32spdstr dude it was my opinion so it's not like putting qualities of the snare are gonna change it. maybe i don't like haake's snare o.o

  • @Z32spdstr Well honestly i was expecting a deeper, louder snare, if we are taking a song like Bleed which is pure brutality, i wonder why the snare is so dry and soft.

  • @GhostFramez that really close to haake's snare sound live..and that's one beastly snare sound..wouldn't mind that for a sample ;)

  • sick! why didnt you use the bleed preset though?

  • this song will literally beat the shit outaa you

  • I'd sell my soul to be able to play this well, I can't play this for more than 5 seconds without seemingly breaking my legs

  • @TrSYeTi Gotta LOVE some Haake.

  • Damn it sounds soo much fuller than the ez drummer version... are you being biased cause superior kicks ass and eq'd it better or is superior just really that much better than ez drummer?

  • @MrGutsy1200 It's way better, because you can EQ each individual part of the kit, and also the samples are way better quality

  • @Gordongaming you can EQ every parts of the kit in EZ drummer :)

  • can you please send me a serial for this program

  • although it is good.. why does it sound like an open high hat at the start when it's a china?

  • @jimmie121 like at 0:18 ?

  • @Gordongaming oh whoops. my mistake... i must of mistakened parts ><

  • @jimmie121 that the hi hats 0:18-0:33 then it goes to china then back to hi hats

  • As a guitar player, I can tell you that the work you've done is incredibly useful for all those who want to learn the song.

    Thanks you very much !

  • @Pitacle2009 as a guitar player i think its no big difference to the original song?! XD

  • damn i love that china sound so much

  • hi man, that's it man. But I doing it too but I can't get the bass patern right. Can you help me?

  • i cant believe you were fucked doing this lol but heaps good man everythings like 100%

  • @drummerhead77 haha thanks :D

  • @drummerhead77 can u believe that we humans are capable of such actions such as playing beats that sound like machines

  • @Z32spdstr its fairly amazing when you think about it aye

  • what program are you using for the drumk track?

  • @edisamporo FL Studio
