@nofreedomofspeech The PS3 fan is HUGE, it doesn't need to spin so fast to push air out, 360 is using two small fans to pull air from a heatsink that is nowhere near the fan, lol thats fail!

So the fans have to spin faster to suck air and make it flow. The DVD is louder than a blu ray as well.

@ptuku All ps3 disc games require you to install it into hard drive, which is alot of space, because a blue ray player spins and reads discs much slower than a dvd.

The Jasper chip has NOTHING to do with the sound, 90% of that noise is coming from the DVD drive. Find a 360 with a Phillips/BenQ DVD drive and it will run almost silent even when playing from the disc. Jasper chip does rule though!

What are you talking about, my xbox is from 2006 and iv never had a problem. You can barely hear it and it never overheats. The only xbox's I hear of getting rrod or breaking down are the newer ones.

@xSarahHay you got it backwards. The Jasper is incredibly reliable. There's about the same failure rate as any other console would have. My brother owns a Jasper Elite and it hasnt had any issues(he plays literally all day). i own a Xenon Premium and a Falcon Elite, they both red ringed, i did gamerguy51's aluminum shim repair on both and now they're just as reliable as a Jasper. So technically a Xenon with that repair is just as reliable as a Jasper.

When I don't use my fans, it's absolutely silent, even quieter than my PS3, if on the dashboard or if I'm playing a game that I downloaded into the harddrive. When I'm playing a game demo or one that I have not downloaded into the harddrive, it makes very little noise comparable to my PS3.

Jaspers do run cooler because they consume less power, which means less energy is wasted as heat in the process.

However, they will still generate heat. It's cooler relatively speaking, but it will still be warm or even hot to the touch. But, what matters is if enough of the heat is dissipated to prevent excess expansion and contraction from thermal cycling, protecting both the BGA mounting the processor's substrate to the board and the bumps bonding the die to the substrate.

There's a new one its called Valhalla but its not really a code name for the model. But some people still call it the valhalla model, its better than Jasper. It's cooler and I'm pretty sure it'll have less noise.

hey conarym9, it doesn't have an internal hard drive, it has an internal flash card much like an ipod nano or any small mp3 player. yes you can use xbox live, but i recommend you go ahead and get the hard drive because 512 mb can fill up quickly. but to answer your question yes you can use xbox live with an arcade console

I bought the modern warfare 2 console last night and I have no way of transferring the data over to the new hard drive. the difference is that the jasper model is quieter and comsumes less power which you should notice in your power bill. also the jasper model has less of a chance of getting the dreaded rrod. one more thing, the jasper xbox 360 is noticeably cooler on the sides than the previous models, so all around the jasper motherboard is a great revision. the zephyr model is noisier and has a higher chance of red-ringing on you. to be safe, make sure yo 360 is manufact. after october 2008.

Get a new Elite and install the games on the Hard Drive

Lay the Xbox 360 on its side, it helps decrease the noise and reduces the risk of damaging the disk drive and the games

After all that, then No it doesn't stop you from enjoying your games, my brother is playing Saints Row 2 right now just a meter behind me and i cant hear anything

The New Jasper Chip 360's have a failure rate from about 4% to 7% my brothers had the one i mentioned a year and its in perfect condition, just look after it.

When you get your new 360, Connect it to the internet and it will automatically download the latest software update for it.

Then when its completed updating your Xbox, insert a Disc and press Y for more info, it will show an option to "Install to Hard Drive", press on that, and it will install the entire game on the HD, takes up a maximum of 6gb, for me its usually between 4.7 to 5.9gb.

You still need to have the disc in the 360, but it doesn't use the disc, it reads the game from the HD.

And if you dont want to connect your 360 to the internet, you can always download the latest software update from the Microsoft website, put it on a USB memory stick, or burn it to a CD and install it that way dude, hope i helped! (=
