I'll be honest, when I think of this film, the action scenes in the trailer are NOT the things that come to mind. It's a fantastic, stirring drama, but I be;ieve that the high intensity scenes in the trailer really overstate the film's events.

It's been a while since I've seen it last, but I recall the slower, more epic parts of the film as the highlight. Difficult to portray such in a two minute trailer I guess.

Had to wonder if Kevin Bacon being in this was partly a play on six degrees of separation because in the world of the film it would make sense. Not to take away from his performance, and hope that's not a cruel thought. I've been working my way through all of Brendan Fraser's films recently, and he makes some very interesting choices. Some of my favorites have not done well at the box office. Don't ask me why.

This film makes me want to learn a little more about the philosophy behind it.

I saw a screening of this last night, and not only was the movie really great (even though it is not the kind of movie I typically watch) but during a Q and A with the director it was revealed that the inspiration for the movie was really awesome.
