im very excited about windows eight and it does remind me very much of a tablet what i would be very interested in is microsoft combining their operating system with xbox so that you can play computer games on the xbox such as diablo 3 that is hopefully soon to release i think it would extreamly inovative and would be interesting if you could phase back and forth from your desktop to your xbox console

I've been messing around with it, and I honestly feel like this would be a great *tablet* OS but Microsoft should NOT be putting this on desktops. It doesn't feel good to navigate with mouse and keyboard, just my opinion though.

It still has a taskbar (albeit only on one screen) so that's a plus and it looks really technical and even futuristic, I am really interested in this, and will probably wait til' this is released for an upgrade :) just my thoughts

This is not the whole system nearly at all. This is only a preview of windows showing how their new OS will be more versatile to work with more things. This really only feels like a tablet OS. Until they can incorporate what Apple did with Lion, and you can swipe between apps with the touch pad, or they can rearrange for a better desktop/laptop experience, I'll stick with 7.

They should include a setting to disable Metro UI on its final release for laptop and desktop users. So that we can take advantage of windows 8 fast boot up speed, increased efficiency, nice graphical interface and improved security. Unless windows 7service pact upgrade will provide this.

As I noticed, scrolling is way too smooth/low friction. A slight flick would bring you to the other end of the screen/page. Apple is still the best when it comes to user convenience.

The leaked beta that you shouldn't know anything about, and this has nothing to do with my first comment.. this UI is useless and shit, even for tablet PCs its still bad, using a regular Windows UI such as the Windows 7 one on a tablet and adding the ability to zoom in/out would be an easy and a fine fix to this, but Microsoft just wants everybody to pay for another version of windows thats not really in any way better than the first... good thing most of us are pirates anyways.

I doubt I would ever use the tablet like interface. I was pretty angry at first until I saw the traditional windows screen. I don't have a touch screen monitor and actually am quite happy with windows 7. If this has directX 12 I will probably buy this. I can see the advantages for a company to amalgamate everything into one OS that can be run on a tablet/phone/PC. As long as this doesn't screw over any one of the 3 it could be quite cool. I'm not as skeptical as I was originally.
