Like the Veyron Supersport this ' top speed ' isn't indicative of what the customer cars are capable of , the rev-limiter was removed for this top speed run and all customer cars left the factory with theirs intact so NO 240MPH for any Mclaren customer car and no 268MPH for any Veyron Supersport either seeing they are electronically limited to ' just ' 258MPH a mere 5MPH more than a base model Veyron. You have to hand it to Bugatti $1Million more for an SS just for an extra 5MPH !

The F1 was designed in the late 80's. It took the brain trusts of Ferrari, Porsche, and Bugatti over 10 YEARS to make anything that came close. Even if cars like the Veyron edged it out in top speed, there was still so much left to be desired in other areas. No machine will come along and blow the industry away like the F1 did. Not until cars can fly.
im not a fan of top speed really, it's not a realistic factor to compare a car by, as it is very hard to get a top speed, acceleration, braking distance and lateral grip are the 3 i compare, and the F1 is still a great car today after being designed a decade ago

The F1 was designed in the late 80's. It took the brain trusts of Ferrari, Porsche, and Bugatti over 10 YEARS to make anything that came close. Even if cars like the Veyron edged it out in top speed, there was still so much left to be desired in other areas. No machine will come along and blow the industry away like the F1 did. Not until cars can fly.

im not a fan of top speed really, it's not a realistic factor to compare a car by, as it is very hard to get a top speed, acceleration, braking distance and lateral grip are the 3 i compare, and the F1 is still a great car today after being designed a decade ago

Guys, this is a car about 15 years older than a veyron, with about 360 less bhp, 4 less cylinders, 1 less gear, 4 less turbo chargers (mclaren has none) but it still manages to do a speed only 16km/h less than a veyron... thats an achievment.

@ASSHOLELA What are you talking about? A Veyron could easliy beat a Mclaren F1 to 200mph from 120mph, even more so form 0mph. The Veyron's 0-60 time is 2.5 seconds, the Mclaren F1's is 3.2 seconds. Thats a 0.8 second difference. In the supercar world that's one week. By the time the Mclaren got up to a decent speed where is could quickly accelerate, the Veyron would be long gone.

the veyron beating the 120-200mph is a lie.mc f1 0-120mph 9.4s, autocar's very slow 0-200mph is 28s. 120-200mph is 18.6s.
veyron 0-200mph is 24.2s/22.2s.even some 19.6s claim is slower.
this and zachary27's vid's 100-322kmh is alot faster than the published numbers. watch them and time if dont believe. autocar reported 24.8s, the record run does it in 20s flat, if 0-100kmh is 3.2, then 0-200mph is 23.2s.

the first digit changes from 0 to 1 at 0:23. thats 100kmh.
322kmh on the gps is at 0:43.
therefore 100-322kmh (200mph) is in 20s.
Since 0-100kmh is 3.2s, 0-200mph is around 23.2s.
if 0-200mph is in 28s, then 0-100kmh is in 8s?
road and track's veyron time was 0-200mph in 24.2s.
veyron wont beat a mclaren f1 from 120-200mph, very far from it.
The mclaren f1 could BEAT a veyron even 0-200mph.

LOL now that is one funny comment.Watch the Incideline review of both cars, bugatti was never meant to be a race car and yet broke all the records. At twice the weight of Mclaren, it does 0-200mph at blistering 8 seconds faster then F1 not to mention the super sport version is even faster.
Watch TopGear, Jermy Clarkson said take Mclaren F1 to 120mph and cross a line where Veyron is standing still, It will be veyron reaching 200mph first. Now that is technology.

yes i actually dont mind the areo, but i do like the koenigsegg CCXR which topped out at like 254mph? then theres the 9ff GT9, looks arnt too bad, and does 254mph too. looks of the 9ff GT9 are alright, all i can say is it looks fast. as for the veyron, it was big part of super car legacies. everyone knows about when the bugatti veyron came out. but it was a "i want to make the fastest car in the world" type of car, but strapping 2 V8's with quad turbos, isnt my super car.

Do you understand the weight difference? They Veyron weighs over 4100 pounds! The F1 weighs 2500 pounds! The F1 only has 371 HP less for that 1600 pounds. Plus the F1 is RWD which looses less top end power than AWD. Being able to put that 1001 HP down over and over and over for years is a amazing to say the least. I'm not saying the F1 isn't a engineering masterpiece but the Veyron is on a level all by it's self, nothing even comes remotely close.
