  • man that frikin track is bad csx is the worst for fixeing tracks not like norfolk southern they fix it in a heart bit if it bumpy like that and one thing that is not bethlehem pa thats landsdale get it right i have never ever seen a csx unit go througe bethlehem pa and that bad of track norfolk southern man out

  • @chris64346, It is the Bethlehem Branch, which runs from Lansdale north. CSX will run detour trains on the Lehigh Line through Bethlehem on rare occasions.

  • @mbsmike1 LOL! So true!

  • That's some high-tech air conditioning you've got there 2680...

  • i didnt know trains had hydrolics

  • what a crappy track

  • Where's MOW when you need em?

  • @benschlechter about 500 miles away cleaning up a derailment lol

  • Look at both at them bouncing along! Funny

  • Very Nice!!!

  • Not really a drag race...more of a race to see which engineer can derail his train first on the crappy track.

  • cela bouge...voies US et cela se voit!

  • and look at how great the track condition is in, PERFECT for a drag race!

  • Railroad version of a death race.

  • Man I love the sound of those GP38-2's! Every day all I hear is the stupid turbocharged GP40-2/RDSLUG sets. Gets annoying after a while :(

  • I've never seen a train sway like that -- wow. And that shot at :44 is downright scary to see a train go by so closely. Pretty awesome video, to say the least.

  • tracks were a little rough- great video- enjoyed

  • You should see what East Penn runs on above Lansdale to Quakertown. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

  • Scared?? what a bunch of pussies, there is way worse track out there, and you should be on a loco that hits a low spot or a bad facing point switch at 60 or 70mph or a crossover from main to main at speed, that will show you how bad a locomotive can sway, happens all the time. I worked a line years ago with a NW2 with wore out trucks that would hunt the rail at 25-30 mph, the lateral pounding would make you think the loco was going to knock the rail out from under you, it did it for years.

  • That Bethlehem Branch has some rough track does it not? I saw the other video of the rail literally buckling. That's fricken scary

  • That's what way too much of CSX's track looks like. Not good.

  • Can't stop watching it!

    Haha! Such a cool video!

  • I'd be scarred shitless if I was there. Nice job!

  • wow massive roughness i love it.

  • WOW!! Those tracks are really rough! I would piss on myself if I was in there going atleast 20 mph thinking the train is going to tip over. Thoses rails really need to be replaced. I hope no freight passes by there.

  • it is not as bad as you think. The zoom lense does that.

I've been on much rougher. Sometimes you are almost rocked to sleep. LOL

  • No, I think its pretty bad. Start watching the conductor and engineer at 0:24 They start to move from side to side.

  • Very common. Like I said, you are sometimes almost rocked to sleep. The rocking motion is very common and with jointed rail very normal.

  • yah and it looks as though the engines only have springs for suspension, I havent seen and shocks on any train, yet hahah. so it could look so much worse because they just keep on rocking. also because its steel on steel, you pick up every little bump on the tracks.

  • You do pick up a lot of 'bumps'. IN particular on the turnouts.

But jointed rail lends itself to rocking, in particular if the track needs a bit of leveling.

Zoom lense really make it appear worse than it is.

  • yah thats very true too. as for needing repair it should hold up at low speeds like this, iv seen a CP train run on track like this at close to 50MPH. I was scared for the guy taking the video..instead of fixing it they just lowered the speed lol.

  • Very common. That's the way railroad's work.

If train schedules do not require higher speeds or certain tonnage levels, why keep up tracks to conditions that are not necessary?

Sort of like why pave a 4 lane highway through your sub-division.

Adjustments are made like this frequently.

  • @mannygonzalez010 - The track may be in need of some repair, but you also have to remember that the optical zoom on a camcorder distorts the track, making it seem in much worse shape than it is actually in.

  • Also, the tracks need take replaced and get new a rails make to SMOOTH! ^^

  • great the video!

    5 rating and *add favorite!!!

  • Awesome video! Nice EMD throttle up!

    -Jim

  • hey was horn in the backround Septa

  • Very cool!

  • wow that track ios really messed up

  • Doesn't look like the track I would race on. :)

  • Bad track!! I like when the one of the crew members of the first loco looks out the window at 0:14 at the other loco. That engine looked like it was about to jump off the bad track! LOL!

  • nice vid!at 0:27,i hear a septa either departing or arriving at lansdale.also that bethlehem branch is bouncy!
