  • Yo. Atheist here, need answers founded in science.

  • Particularly convicting at the moment...A friend and I went to a movie tonight. Not in the time surrounding, did we really at all talk about deep serious spiritual things; Jesus was not brought up; sin was bit brought up; joy in the Lord was not brought up. Atleast nit by me very much. Fellowship can awkwardly contain no deep contact with each other's souls, or with God. Distressing. Much to be prayed over...

  • God isn't real you stupid old man.

  • I would really love to know what John Piper thinks about video games. I'm struggling with them atm, don't know whether I should play or not. I need true Biblical help and from all pastors I've heard Pastor Piper is the most Biblical preacher. I'm not addicted to games but lately I've been feeling convicted about playing them. I fully gave them up yesterday but I'm still spiritually struggling with the issue. But for now it's gone. Thank you Jesus! :)

  • @BritneyAddicted4EVA I share your struggle man, and here's the thing about it. Is it wrong to play a video game here and there? Think about it like this. Is it wrong to engage in fellowship with friends? Is it wrong to play some chess? Is it wrong to play some basketball or football? The answer ultimately is no, however whenever that joy becomes more important to you than Christ, then it is an issue. If you spend more time playing games than serving Christ, then yes it is an issue.

  • @Dourden11 No, I definitely don't spend more time playing games but if I did there would be a danger of me just slipping into days of almost non stop gameplay. I'm not sure if I'll ever play games again and I hope God will direct me on this. I don't know what to do now. I guess it's not wrong to play. I pray God directs us both on this.

  • @Dourden11 very good point

  • I feel kinda ironic and guilty clicking the Like button!

  • OH SNAP! think about your DEATH!

  • @Plaisir09 that's right! this life goes quick as a vapor. all people will still exist 900 billion millenniums from now either in heaven or hell (that's hard to comprehend) so thinking and preparing for the time that we cross over into eternity is a pretty big thing. thinking about when we have to give an account to Jesus for how we live this short life is important. read Romans 14:12

  • 2:33 one of the reasons we are not as MOVED by our own faith as we are is bcuz i we almost never talk about it to an unbeliever...

    Amen !

  • An excellent and profound testimony of serious faith in a frivolous world.

  • I love it when he suggests that we should "get in a group where you talk about serious things."

What people call fellowship nowadays seem to be getting together with Christians to watch a football game and talk about ANYTHING BUT the glory of God. It's a huge shame that Christian's have lost such a huge part of their Christian pilgrimage in this age.

  • Ephesians 5:3-7 will help everyone...it surely helps me..The Word of God here will allow you to filter the entertainment that you choose to listen to, watch, feel...etc!! Read it and Apply it--it WILL help!

  • A John Piper video with 0 dislikes. Wow

  • I am struggling with this issue alot. I have kind of come to the conclusion that entertainment is just part of everyday life these days. We all just have too much freetime to waste.

Anyways, the Bible isn't very clear on entertainment, but certainly it's wasted time. We'd all deserve hell if it wasn't for Jesus so have faith in his completed work.

I'm not agreeing and not disagreeing with the video, I just know that I'd deserve hell, be it cause I waste to much time or cause I lusted for years

  • check out Johnathan Edwards resolutions on Pipers site, there great resolutions! :p

  • what does god / jesus /religion has to offer ? nothing its boring! let me live my life the way i want and you live urs the way you want... you believe what you want and keep it to ur self and i will do same!

  • @edimk25 When faced with an infinite, all powerful God who is satisfying and irresistible, the things of the world do not matter. They are folly, because God is so much greater, so much better than the things of this world. As to the matter of sharing: when you eat food that tastes really good, do you not go and tell your friends to check that restaurant out? We are sharing the gospel in the same way. We have experienced something so great that we cannot help but go out and share it.

  • @edimk25 wait, but you didn't keep it to yourself... you just said religion is boring.

  • The fact entertainment is the only way to fun is a sign we are in a fallen world.

  • Get out and share your faith. You want a passion for God? A passion for the lost? Get out on the streets of your town and share the Gospel; one-to-one or open-air ... you will encounter the depravity of man, grow a hunger for scriptural knowledge and grow like crazy. This is the faith of Acts.

  • @repentanceforgrace

thats what im doing pray for me..that lost souls might be save in the evrey street corners that i walk through

everyday ..may the good lord open their hearts and minds. in Jesus name AMEN!

  • Living on my own and not being able to afford cable or internet in the home has been a huge time saver and blessing for me...I recommend people try it! Go without Tv and home internet...and yes I was in college...I just used the schools computers or go to free wifi hotspots with my laptop and yes I watched dvds at home...but I stopped watching 3 hours a tv a day because it just wasn't in my home

  • That was a Fun clip!

  • yes, it was fun to listen to a man speak against having fun for fun's sake. yes, fun.

  • "Begin to share your faith."

That's when people begin to ask questions about Jesus, and Christianity and we also begin to taste the Bible with a different and more relevant flavor.

  • Thank you so much. I needed that.

  • Powerful.

  • Great exhortation... very helpful.

  • Great episode!

  • I Love GOD!

Thank you for this great man, LORD!

    Amen.

  • Good suggestions.
