  • ...god.

  • Julian1471: I agree... It's disrespectful to any person who have practiced tens of thousands of hours to perfect their craft only to have others call it a "gift from

  • @ 5;10 when he breaks it down and kicks in with the funky strum and it turns into blues and rock, this man is something special, and if anyone says its a gift from god i might have to poke `em in the eye cause that talent belongs to him alone - peace.

  • i really look up to John mayer as a musical inspirationa and this is one of my favourite songs. It's nice to hear that he too when he started writting songs couldn't find someone who could sing and he practiced and now he can really sing! Cause i cant sing that well but who knows maybe with more practice (and im not saying ill ever be as good as JM lol :P

  • Okay..sorry but.....how the hell can 24 people dislike this...really? It's John Mayer, not tiny Tim.

  • Whenever you wanna clack the clicketiclacker. Poetic..

  • Whatever people say about the pop influence in his music, you cant deny he is one of the best guitarist of our gen.

  • cool

  • He may be a jerk at times, but his talent is undeniable. One if the greatest guitarist of this generation.

  • @Blackneo1808 that's true...

  • @Blackneo1808 he has such a feeling I guess he earned that from his jass and blues knowlegde. such a rhythm.

  • damn that was tight... awesome

  • Get so much enjoyment out of watching that drummer feel the funky beats alone:)!

  • simply super.

  • better than the one on the album.

  • (...) and the music at 2:15 =)

  • who´s the guy with the slider?

  • @SergeFigueroa robbie mcintosh

  • @SergeFigueroa Robbie Macintosh

  • @thedistrict3 Thank You. :)

  • "You develop a style, when you fail to sound exactly like the person you're trying to sound like"

  • 23 dislikers are bieber fans

  • @SergeFigueroa

    real original.

  • John Mayer is 100 times more intelligent that anyone can even understand ..

  • 23 people dont belief

  • @versnellingspookie origineel man..

  • @nachtlampje11 ja vindt ik ook

  • I love the fact that the lyrics done say 'win the war', its

    win the world

    stop the war

  • John Mayer is becoming a legend..

  • Every album has a totally different side to John Mayers musical outreach, I actually feel my musical tastes expand with each of his albums I hear. Can't wait to hear what he releases next. Also this is a gem of a tune.

  • Robbie Mcintosh is my niggah! He's a phenomenal player.

  • @bondman00794 He's not a nigger, what a horrible thing to say.

  • @sportsportsport I never said nigger, you did.

  • @bondman00794 Pedantic at its worst. You know it's a euphemism for the term 'nigger'. Despicable.

  • @sportsportsport You're a tard bro.

  • @ztbsk8er Oh look, a bolt on with a weak opinion. Ta ta.

  • @sportsportsport You ok?

  • Guy knows how to hook up with the right musicians. This drummer is like a young Steve Jordan. Great backbeat with a funk override yet never too pushy on the drive. All pocket, shooting off like a rocket. What's his name anyway? Anyone know?

  • @RubHerSoul1 He's called J.J. Johnson

  • @RubHerSoul1 He's called J.J. Johnson, Mayer has played with Steve Jordan quite some gigs. You should check him out on Crossroads 2010, or try search John Mayer Trio, will blow your mind :)

  • 1:25 i love it!!!

  • ok, nvm ;p

  • 0.07 - could someone tell me title of this tune. PLEASE!

  • @ManitouPL Vultures - John mayer

  • @ManitouPL Vultures

  • @ManitouPL Vultures from the Continuum album

  • he's so so good....

  • David LaBruyere is like James Jamerson in that he always kicks up the bassline towards the end of the song.

  • IS AMAZING. HE SAYS AND UTHEY PLAY IT SO WELL... HERE #❤

  • When Robbie came in at 4:31, I almost shat myself. What a badass.

I mean, yes, John Mayer has incredible chops, but you have to give serious props to the musicians he surrounds himself with.

  • the drummer is tight !

they are all brilliant musicians but man i love the drummer :p

    and mayer offcourse

  • @madevision JJ Johnson . You should look up the John Mayer TRIO : John Mayer,Steve Jordan & Pino Palladino. amazing musicians.....

  • he might not be the best male singer when it comes to ranges and vocal techniques, but DUDE... The guy's got soul!

  • 5:08 love the kayboard players facial

  • "whenever ya wanna clllack...the clickedy clacker." lol.

  • Everything about this song is perfect.

  • He may not have a huge vocal range but his pitch, tone and tembre are perfect.

  • 1:24 GREAT voice!

  • I enjoy hearing guys like John Mayer talk about music. I also got to read a bio on Dr. Dre, and so many folks who just sit there and bob their heads to their music don't have a clue how intricate each song is, how these artists combine different rhythms, melodies and harmonies to create magnificent sounds.

it's rare to see an artist so involved in their music. the extent of most artists' involvement is laying a vocal track using other peoples' lyrics and music.

  • iTS NICE TO SEE STEVE FOCUSED ENTIRELY ON THE BASS LINE AT THE VERSE. AND BASS JUST CONCENTRATED ON PERCUSION AND .THATS THE FUCKING SECRET FOR THE MAXIMUM GROOVE.

  • @waako182 thats not steve jordan, his name is JJ Johnson

  • @waako182 it's JJ playin drums.

  • NAAAAAA when they learn REGGAE " they will be good ""

  • these abbey road versions are actually better than the studio album versions... is it just me?

  • @NajCarnage i think a lot of times when artists' re-record their songs, they've worked the kinks out. the best artists, i believe, are always tinkering with a song even when its been released. there's always a way to make a song sound more amazing.

  • this probably the best version of this song i have heard live. The solo is unbelievable.

  • 2:20 You should watch the face of the drummer ghehe

  • 5:54 is sex

  • @LennGuitar

Check out the Keeley-modded TS808. From what I read, and pictures I've seen of his setup, he uses those along with a bunch of other stuff haha. Keeley compressor too.

  • That guitar tone is killer

  • 5:09 breakin it dooowwwnnnnn

  • john is a magician

  • hes so high all the time

  • Perfect ・・・・ good feeling☆

  • I think Continuum and Heavier Things are his best albums yet.... The last one was a little bit of a dissapointment

  • @eowyna88 sctrach Heavier Things and substitute Try!

  • God I want to learn this solo. What effects did he used?

  • @LennGuitar Overdrive. Tube Screamer - like probably.

  • This guy has the perfect Strat sound for blues ... and ALL the technique !

  • holy shit his guitar sound is just incredible

  • is hard to develop your own voice style and your own style of music. I admire this guy, he does what he likes . play guitar and listen to songs

  • John Mayer is a COMPLETE artist !!

  • nice :)

This sound it's very very good

  • Can I just say, he has a VAST VOCABULARY. He seems to be well educated despite his a-hole/full-of-himself persona. Hmmm, how wierd. -Big Fan

  • john is the mecca of guitar playing/singing. his music is an inspiration to almost all of the guitar players i know. keep being amazing john mayer!

  • "Like punching underwater, you never can hit who you're trying for."

    Brilliant. Friggin brilliant.

  • This is what i call music! , i really love this, and you John!!!

  • @youngaiko dude did you even watch the whole video..

  • @youngaiko you are truly a fucking retard

  • @youngaiko Dude you should really try hard in not making a fool out of yourself.

  • @youngaiko way to pubicly embarrass yourself man

  • composing wise and playing wise i think this john is in many ways the best guitarist ive heard. his songs are pretty weak though and his voice always sounds forced, he kind of explains that here suggesting that his real singing voice is pretty shit so he had to come up with this. obviously its not shit otherwise his studio albums wouldnt sell but then i dont have his studio albums because i only value him as a guitar player

  • god bless fender and MAYER

  • what a fuckin beautiful song

  • the best version is the crossroads version! look it up

  • belief and gravity, this one songs is best of mayer

  • clack the clickkety clackker.

  • Awesome player wow

  • Man i love that fat tone on his strat... also an amazing solo at 5:50.

  • rogerkilledumyfriend

  • even after many times it is still fantastic !

  • First time I heard this....fantastic!

  • looove you!! you're great!! I can really listen to John Mayer every day and not get bored...<3 him!

  • Look like "Line In" from the drums. Little rectangualr button that turns green when he hits it and a little black arrow pointing to the right on it usually meaning "record" or "Play" depending on the device. I am betting he's jusut recording his drums from for the set.

  • Also, groovemaker is an Iphone application only.

  • anyone know what the little machine the drummer turns on before he starts? dead curious

  • Maybe a CLICK.........

  • is that sarcasm?

cos its hilarious. Was just lookin for some info, and i doubt he needs a machine that big for a metronome.

  • Or maybe something like a mixedr for his in-ear monitoring....i don't know , but interesting..

  • @ James

After a bit of researching i know what this is. This a groove maker. this is something like a metronome but it doesn't click. It shows you when you hit slightly ahead or behind the proper beat.

  • thats awsome man, cheers :P been annoying me for ever

  • That was bloody great!!!!

  • anyone knows what is that black box in the floor in front of of him at 0:16 ?

  • This song is music at it's finest. The song has meaning, starts off light and builds to the very end. It doesn't get much better. People say he's not a good guitarist, I say bulls@@T !!!!

  • Wow. This makes my skin tingle. 4:48 *Jaw hits the floor*

  • wat a talented bunch of guys. david ryan harris, the black guitarist has an amazing voice, check his solo stuff.

  • Comment removed

  • yeah lol at the comments "stratycaster" and Steve Jordan. that's J.J. Johnson bro.

  • hehe, its kinda funny to read the comments,..stratykaster and the lovin of the drum by steve jordan...not the right name, but agree with the point thou..and gds why wont u come to sweden john...

  • great guitarist, apparently i am gay coz i like him, hes a chick act but he realy can sqeeuze the notes outa that there stratykaster

  • its a stratacaster

  • iwas joking its actualy calleda stratocaster

  • this drummer is just way too good to be true

  • its steve jordan :) he is amazing

  • Nope, that's not Steve, that's JJ Johnson. Steve is older and plays in the trio.

  • wow i agree, top groove. he holds the right hand stick all wrong but its sounds amazing!!! wny did i ever bother to learn "correct technique" when this guy smokes it his own way??

  • drumming is like dancing mate, I agree he holds it like a rookie but plays awesome, simple but groovy drumming at it's best

  • John makes me really wanna tighten up the loose ends in my guitar playing. I would love to get somewhere CLOSE to his ability.

  • he has that undefinable feel and tone, i ve been trying to learn the solo to gravity, and i dont mean the notes i mean the feel, very elusive. if ya dont nail it it sounds sooo amatuerish. weve all got lose ends i guess, good luck with your playing anyway

  • "whenever you wanna clack the clickity clacker", hahaha

  • Not many people realize this mans musical genious. He is constantly reflecting and learning music at every moment and even though his singing is not world class he makes it work to go with the MUSIC. John Mayer is the one artist that gets radio play that has a full unterstanding of what music is and how to make it, everytime.

  • well said.

  • I totally agree. I can see his growth as an artist over just a few years. He keeps getting better and better. He is a perfectionist and a true musician. That is one of the things that drew me to him from the beginning. He is quite the talented musician, and he just gets it.

  • I strongly agree- except about the singing. How many singers do you know that are out there making millions, and barely hit notes? The reason record labels sign musicians is that they like them. It's all about appeal- people buy the autotuned and heavily mixed music because they like how it sounds, not for the actual talent. Would you buy a video of the greatest unicylclist if you didn't like unicycles? John has a great raw, unique voice, and he happens to have some pretty great vocal fills.

  • @beardown2489 I don't know if it is possible to have a FULL understanding of what music is. It is an art form, and to master it, or to believe in a full understanding is to say that you have reach a point where you cannot learn any more or get any better.

  • A lot of people call this guy weak and mainstream, but you sure don't get a lot of people playing guitar like john mayer.

  • This might be one of my favorite live performances ever by anyone, truly awesome, John stands out in a era with more bands/musicians than ever, and his name will be imprinted into music forever.

  • amazing

  • RIGHTEOUS DRUMMING

  • I don't think normal people can double their capacity every month. :p

  • uy profe pero que pedazo!!! estoy intentando acabar con ivan!!

  • "cool"

    -john mayer

  • John Mayer is so professional.

  • sexeh song ever.

  • u don't get more professional than John Mayer and his Fukin Crew!

  • Johm Mayer just keeps getting better and better. He is so mature musically as a musician, far far beyond his years.

  • Amazing. The creation process behind an album, behind just writing a song, is far more involved than people believe it is.

    Speaking of BELIEF! :D

He nails a musicians fear of doing a "cover" song. Or even writing a song, and accidently reflecting an artist who may have been in mind during the writing proces.

  • Great stuff. Thanks.

  • definitely one of my favourite grooves of any song

  • go Robbie

  • AMEN to patience!

  • dude. what drumset is that? Ludwig Centennial?
