I am basically from Chennai, a south Indian city. I have heard the original version sung by Khan saab Mehdi Hassan saab. It would not be fair to compare anyone with the legend, but i feel Ghulam Abbas has done justice to the attempt. This is just fantastic. I mean the borders are just for maps, in reality the nature of everything is the same.

does any one knows this ghazal / dram ost by Ghulam Abbas from ptv era..main misrey ye hain : "Kis se kahun aye jaan-e-jaan, kaise kahun jaan-e-jaan....Ab hum k thehre benishaan, ab hum k thehrey ajnabi"....i cant remember the title, thats y cant find it on net...

sun'ne se pehle socha k Ghulam Abbas ko Mehdi Hassan ki ye ghazal try nai karni chahiye thi mgr kisi jagah per b koi kami nai chori Ghulam Abbas ne. Ghulam Abbas is unbeatable. aisa lagta hai k jese iss ghazal ko pehle kabi nai suna.

Ghulam abbas made his voice skilled by strenuous efforts. I recorded his more than 100 items in Central Production Unit, Radio pakistan, Lahore. this unit is specialised for the production of quality music and is ONE of its nature in the history of broadcasting. This unit never earned revenue but promoted the skilled artists. The production are preserved at radio oakistan Head Quarters, Islamabad.The artist made his name by ghazal, Main ne Roka Bhi Naheen, produced by me, in 1976.

Guhlam is extermely popular among ghazal singers and classical singing class of Pakistan. But he has been struggeling in times when Mehdi Hassan was on top and then Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan took over. Still he holds his own place in terms of Gayiki.

Ahmad faraz ki iss ghazzel ko kisi say ek private mehfil main kissi ghumnam shokia singer say suni thi iss na achi ghai hay mughar oss ghumnanam nay boooohat ach ghai thi itna achi cheeeez paish karnay ka boooohat shukria!
