@spectrale01: Thanks for your posting. I just check all three UKII against each other and I have to say that I fully agree with your finding. The brass saddle with plastic saddle is very weak also in sustain in the high notes, compared to the later models. The difference is really striking-I will eventually divorce from my early UKII
these guitars play so epically sweet and smooth. mines number E 13893, i got it back in 1999 when i was 17 for $300 CAD. i'll be playing this guitar until i'm an old man.
Do notice any difference in tone between your 3 ukiis based upon the bridge style? I have 1 with the traditional hollow brass saddles (plastic cover), and I'm building a second UKII from parts, including the solid, all brass bridge like yours in this video. I assume it should have more presence and attack with the solid bridge than the one with hollow saddles, but that's only a guess.
@spectrale01 Just following my earlier post. The UKii is like the solidbody Viper and Preacher models, which sometimes come with the solid tune-o-matic style bridge as well as the one with the broad brass saddles and plastic cover. Just got my another Viper with the bridge style like yours and it definitely has more characteristics of the tunomatic - easier bending, a different sounding attack/decay envelope, etc... I'm going to use the solid bridge to diversify my UKii project. MfG-Spectrale
frisell1968: thanks for your comments. This UKII weighs around 3,5kg and its quite balanced. I bought my first UKII a couple of years ago jußt because of the looks. but when I plugged in I was "shocked"! what a sound, what a versatility. and the fretboard( if you like ebony): amazing access and playability. all in all a real steal for small money. So i bought all the UKs I could get... Try to get one: this will make you sharing your love you might have with your gibsons and fenders. Go for it!

Nice video... I'm planning to get one of these... How's the guitar's weight? Us it heavier than a regular telecaster? Great video btw..
