No, MLS isnt nearly as developed as the English, Italian, or Spanish leagues, however they are a real soccer league. I'll put it this way. If you added Columbus, DC United, and Houston to the EPL only 1 of them would probably be relagated, and another one would probably have a shot to finish in the top half. When Galaxy played Chelsea BEFORE they had Becks they only lost one nil and they were worst in MLS at that point, so add DB and they could have a shot at beating Chelsea or even Arsenal.
Different countries may call it something different and I respect that. But really, when your on a site such as Youtube where its international. Its football.
Technically youtube is based in California where football is a very different game.
Regardless, even as an American I have always thought "football" is a dumb name for a sport where it is a penalty for all the players on the field but 1 to actually kick the ball. By this logic we should have named "soccer" "handball" instead.
1 player on each team is allowed to use his hand while the ball is in play, while when the ball is out of play for a throw one player can throw the ball back in and that is that.
Penalties are fouls which are incurred within the penalty box. This doesnt happen often, maybe once every 5 games or so. Penalties are 1v1. Free kicks are fouls that happen outside the box and its 11v11.
Youtube should respect international differences and call things the proper name, not what its called locally.
Sorry, my post was confusing. I was not arguing that youtube should call it "soccer".
I was musing at the word football. As you pointed out 1 person on a team can use their hands while everyone can use their feet. Hence the name "football" seems appropriate.
It is exactly opposite in the game Americans call football. Generally speaking everyone can use their hands while only one person is allowed to use their foot. So for that game the name "football" makes no sense.
A long shot. The quality of players at Arsenal and Chelsea is stupendous, they are on another level. Fabregas, Drogba, Anelka, Lampard, Arshavin, Ballack, Carvalho, Terry, Gallas etc etc... these players would, quite frankly, piss all over the MLS. And Becks is not even the player he was when he was at United, where he undoubtedly had his best years. Any MLS side would struggle in the Premier League, it is another world.
to all the morons who call football, soccer... go wake the fuck up, if americans called it football maybe they wouldnt suck so bad..fuckin rediculious
u guys need to grow up... there playing the sport mayb not as good but if u ask me any good players in america get drafted somewhere around the world.
Everyone was cheering because he has never been to Australia so probs no australian have seen him play overseas that was their taste to see how good he was a freekicks now the fans can walk away smiling knowing that they prolly only get 1 chance to see a free kick like that from a quality freekick taker
hey dickhead, thats because the whole stadium was gong for sydney fc not la galaxy and i was there and ppl from sydney fc were cheering hell loud just cuz they appreciate what he can do. listen to when sydney fc scores buddy then u'll eat ur words
actually it wasnt that atmospheric.. i mean that goal was good but during the game there was parts which were just silent.. i wonder what a fa cup final at wembely with 90,000 be like...
Juninho wasnt in the wall, facing the goal - left to right it was... Talay, Tsattalios, Santalab, Zadkovich and Biddle. And at end of day didnt matter... LA Galaxy blockers pushed Talay off the mark and Beckham put the ball above the blockers. But you are right, Tsattalios isn't very tall, im surprised they didnt have Rudan, Fyfe etc in the wall.
You are pretty much right. The crowd was made up by alot of families and Beckham lovers who dont regularly come. If you come to regular Sydney FC A-League home games the noise at those games is probably louder even with fewer people, especially in the Cove, or sitting up their end of the park.
Dont worry, we aren't going all that much better! MVFC and SFC definately have the loudest supporter groups. MVFC have more fans and are probably louder, altho person for person I think SFC would come out on top. I would take a guess that SFS is louder than the Dome, mainly cause Dome is a round AFL ground whereas SFS is better suited for football, fans closer to the pitch, noise less dispersed. But im no expert...
Well actually, the quality of this clip on my camera and on the computer is as clear as day. For some reason the quality of the video is drastically reduced when uploaded to youtube.
