What people fail to realize is that this is a demo version of Run DMC. Rick Ruben was notorious for doing two versions of songs and then tweaking it and making it better etc. LL Cool J did it for Rock the Bells. His demo version was WAAAY different than the single and the single was way different than his album version. If this made the cut for Raising Hell, it would have been dope. However, I am glad that the Beasties Flipped it and used it on Licence to Ill
Thank you sir I've waited a lifetime to hear this.I put it up there with hearing that 20th century steel band song.those who lived through the 80s early 90s hip hop or beat geeks might get it.
Check your head and the real musical albums like the mix up are what show the beastie boys are true artists that are extremely talented! thanks for posting this song!
LOL. The album he did with them was the worst thing they ever put out. Then they came back and blew it out of the water with Paul's Boutique. AMAZING ALBUM on every level.
I agree Paul's Boutique is their best work.I love all the Beasties albums but I just think their last album (To The 5 Burroughs) was not their greatest, I think they need some production help for future albums maybe. It was just an opinion.
Yeah. I just don't think they need Rick Rubin. I don't want to hear another Licensed to Ill ever again. That was fine for the time because hip hop was so young, but they need to do something revolutionary. A lot of people call "Paul's Boutique" their Abbey Road... but I think of it more as their "Sgt. Pepper's...". Before they are done, hopefully they make their "ABBEY ROAD".
Im so glad beasties made the newer version. This version isn't bad but i love the beastie boys version

Just heard they are releasing a remastered Paul's Boutique again for their 20 year anniversary. Nice.

great! Paul's Boutique is a masterpiece!

I read that it will be a remastered LP with a poster and pictures and such. It comes with commentary by the Beasties, too.

Run-DMC wrote a few songs that wound up on Licensed To Ill. Let's hope Rick Rubin produces a future Beasties album. They need the help.
