This moive is taking place in the 1980s. At the begining of the moive Li was in the shopping mall. One of the shots show them at the ATM getting some cash. Did anyone notice the 20 dollar bills are the NEW one's. Those pinkish 20 dollar bills DON"T exsist back in the 80's. LOL

it's really ironic though. the actor that plays li learnt ballet at the same dance acadamy in beijing a Li, and the actress that pplays mary Mackendry was taught ballet by the real mary mackendry at the Australian Ballet company! i met Li Cunxin, he is amazing and really nice

To the people that knock ballet, you should appreciate that it is one of the highest feats of human physical and artistic ability, on par with gymnastics in skill and discipline. I did it for one year to stengthen my back after a serious motorbike accident, and it was incredibly hard, and fun.

I remember walking around the bar, not "en-pointe", but on the ball of my feet and I had to take the next day off work because my calf muscles were so sore I could barely walk. It's awesome exercise.
