  • Why did shinedown break up

  • @XXlilredlovesyaXX they didnt u nub

  • Omg, this sux ass when its live-.-''

This is one of my favourite songs... but this is shit!

Almost everyone does crappy live performances

  • @JoachimHStenvold they dont suck at all.....you crazy

  • @BiteMeL0VE Lol, on this vid they sux ass...

    I'm not crazy, just honest.

I listen to this song, really often... but the live versions are crappy as hell!

  • Sounds like he does on the CD. some bands alter they're voices so much it dosn't even sound like them. Kinda like 3 doors down

  • i just want to say that shinedown kick ass i love your music my fav songs are 45.second chance, and call me keep rockin guys

  • gotta say shinedown is awesome dont know if its that his voice is giving out or if its more of a song to himself, alot of shinedown's music seems to have more meaning in the tones and words if you turn it inward dont think of it as a song for you but rather a song in you, most of the music you've either felt or didn't the tone simply makes it easier to take deeper

  • yeah, he usually can do something to improve where he cant hit the notes, but he definantly failed here lol

  • This is the first time i have ever seen him so flat?!

  • yeah houston!!!

  • an awesome song by one of my favorite bands, not his best performance but its not the worst either, you cant nail a song everytime you sing it

  • Uggghhhh! Painful to listen to!

  • its not that bad at all ......sure its flat .... but still not to bad.....

compared to no talents like kayne west or ashlee simpson- both of whom use a ton of shit on their voices - brett can deliver the goods with nothing but an acoustic guitar and his voice raw ...

  • I am def no professional singer... duh... but i sing this stuff with friends along with queen... and yeah it takes a lot out of ya... songs like save me and somebody to love(yes thats queen) take a physical starin... but its worth it... i am one of the lucky ones with regenerative vocal chords... they just dont quit on me

  • Brent seems to feed off the enthusiasm of the crowd, and they were a bunch of assholes. No singer nails every performance especially after years of back to back tours. Cut the man a break.

  • I saw them last night in concert. I believe the video messed it up. They sounded amazing! Their all really nice too. i met them backstage!

  • Just to clarify

Maybe 1% of the population can sustain a rock tour vocally. Pop is nothing on the voice. Its that hard(Im a singer).

and about the pitch...all it takes is for 1 notes to hit your ear on the return bounce(think of the doppler effect of an ice cream truck song going by) to throw your pitch off. But he did not correct even into the next verse. He was a complete half step down in pitch

  • Thank you some one who knows something. Dont get me wrong, I love Shinedown but this was a very bad performance. I am quit sure that not all there shows are like this! Awesome band!

  • This is a perfect example of incomplete voice training. He simply yells too much to sustain his voice over a tour. Some singers genetically have throats that recover well but most human voices cannot.

He needs to learn how to sing lower in volume and resist shouting or he is not gonna last more than a few songs. He may not be able to make it through even one song as it is.

  • @Rizzy55 ah cmon, at least they are not emo,rap or whatever

  • I love this band , I love this album but this was below par (did pretty good justice to the usage 'off key' )....probably a bad night out :)

  • Wow, bad, off key most of the song... Not impressed...

  • Might I also add that I absolutely love this song and Shinedown, but this was a sub par performance from these kickass guys.

  • his voice is given out from their really hard rock songs

  • he gave the same speach yesterday at pinkpop, lol.

I'm in love with this song, it's so beautiful! <3

  • LoL, It's obvious his voice has given out at this point. Shinedown is awesome live.

  • i can sing this song better live than he can

  • God, it's difficult to listen to all those people shouting for Simple Man. Can't imagine how awkward he must find it, knowing they don't play it anymore but ignorant people are still calling for it.

  • Why don't they play Simple Man anymore? (just out of curiousity)

  • Because they only got to play it due to Jasin's connection to Skynyrd. Now he's gone, it would be disrespectful to play it because it was his song really...

  • they still play it:] believe me i went to a recent show of theres

  • well said mr. smith... i cannot wait for memphis in may!!

  • Not everyone is always on key things happen you can hear certian things in your monitor mix sometimes it sounds lower or higher, also when bands hit this stage of their career they are doing this 4 + times a week. That realy takes its toll on a persons vocals no matter how good they are, this band is one of very few I will pay to see live they sound identical to their CD no doctoring or anything, and their performance's are always phenominal.

  • WTF:S:O he is of key:O i meen realy of key:S but he is a greaaaaat singer. but not in this vid.

  • he is an amzing singer and frontman. he's for sure in the top three singers of all time if not number 1

  • he really is an amazing singer, merzy3213 is totally right, after playin so much it gets hard hes doin pretty good in my opinion

  • idiots, go search "Call Me Brat Stop" It's pitch fucking perfect. give him a break.

  • everyone needs to remember that these guys play 4 to 6 days outta the week when on tour......and singing that much can really take a serious toll on your voice, especially the way he can sing, i was lucky enough to see them 2 days ago after they had a day off and he sounded pitch perfect, so before anyone dogs his voice just go ahead and sing between 15 and 20 songs in a row everyday for a few days straight and see how your voice feels

  • Hes just not in the right key. It may have been too loud for him to hear the piano. He can sing.

  • Yeah it just sounds like Brent was just havin an off night but he can sing, if you dont believe me just listen to the video of "save me" on jimmy kimmel

  • yeah i don't know if its the video itself or if he was having an off day... i'll see them in person in 4 days =] so that should be much better!

  • smile empty soul singer best

  • it isn't that its bad vocals exactly its just that no band sounds exactly the same live as they do on cd plus the video recorder wasn't made to capture sound clearly either

  • This really sucked :/

  • AH...flat :(

  • what singers arent aloud to have bad days, the only thing is he cant call is sick like you can

  • your all fuckin retarded, Shinedown is badass, And Seether is too.

  • Shinedown and Seether FTW

  • that's bad guys.. i'm sorry i love that song but this performance are bad... :( hope he can fix his voice...

  • Like everyone else has said, its his song!! Shinedown rocks live, I was lucky enough to see them live twice last year. Once in New York and the second time in Iowa. If they weren't great live, I wouldn't have paid to see them twice, they performed to a sold out crowd that night, the first sold out crowd on that leg of the tour with Saving Abel, Buckcherry, and Avenged Sevenfold. The BEST show ever!!

  • He sounds nervous and as a result does sound out of tune. He is a great singer but I don't think he shows his best infront of big crowds.

  • i was at this concert in houston at club meridian.

Shinedown was amazing and this song sounded damn good live.

Cant wait to hear see these guys again =]

  • whoever said hes out of tune is stupid, its his song, and he cant sing exactly how it sounds on the CD, bc when you sing in studio they alter you're voice to make it sound better, idiot.

  • I've been to the meridian and they're sound system sucks. dude can't run the sound either.

  • One of two things here...

    1) he has been touring his ass off and his vocal chords are exhausted.

    2) He cannot hear correct pitch on piano due to shitty job of soundguy who was running the sound.

This dude rocks, and it is normal for things like this happen once in a while. I sing in metal band so I know very well these things.

  • he's not out of key... it's his damn song! let the man sing it the way he wants... i don't give a shit how he sings it he is one of, if not the best, singer in the industry today... in my book that grants him the right to sing however the hell he wants.

  • hes not one of the best in the industry today

  • don't call one of the best. but, couple of years he'll be there

  • I love shinedown but i believe seether would have the best singer.

  • no brent is a better vocalist than seether (my opinion)

  • Yeah your right but he wasnt very good in this video. His voice wasnt justified here.

  • I don't think he can hear himself. Every time I've seen SD Brent sounds perfect. You can hear him trying to adjust, but to no avail...

  • everyone keeps talking about his voice being strained, but look at the greats like Robert Plant and Freddy Mercury. They sang their hearts out through some grueling tour schedules and still sounded amazing. Don't get me wrong, i love shinedown, but they are a studio band.

  • they arnt a studio band they do a hell of alot better then the red fucksuit apparatus live or any other new gay bands-.-

    just saying

  • no man i agree with you those bands suck, but i'm just saying, being able to put on a good live show is part of what makes a great band.

  • ever see godsmack or disturbed put on a show. Those guys are probable the best live bands ive ever seen. Alterbridge is a damn good one too.

  • Disturbed is awesome when it comes to performance indeed, :D and i got the change to see them live :D idk when shinedown gets to my country, but when they do, ill be there to see them Live.

  • stupid texans cant stfu and let him talk...

  • This may not be a great performance from Shinedown but you can tell that his voice is very strained. Thats what happens when you sing powerful, strenuous songs every night on tour.

  • there touring in january u tit

  • i feel so sorry for him here. He goes out of key a lot but its still an amazing song and i love shinedown. I really wish they would come to the uk again!!!

  • My point how performers are a product of a studio....he sounds worse than me after 12 beers and yelling for an hour....Get me a band!!!

  • get a band?

shinedown is the best rockband these days

and Brent smith is tha best

  • Well, this is just a really tough song to sing. But either way he's the man.

  • With Brent's vocal style, it is hard to maintain the voice over such a strenuous and grueling tour schedule.

  • Wow this video should be deleted. Brents voice is shot, he is forcing it out for the crowd what a champ.

  • WOAH!! my band has played with shinedown and they DO NOT suck live. Brent is one of the greatest singers of our time and he's a badass mutha fukker to boot every singer has their off days. i know i do

  • BULLSHIT!!!! i've seen them 3 times and everytime i saw them they rocked the house. He sounded exactly the same on cd. It's like everyone is saying. Everyone has an off night. Especcialy with playin everynight.

  • FUCKING AWESOME!!!!

  • *CONTINUED: Give more space to type YouTuube!

Every band has a set playlist that they go by. They're not a jukebox in which you put in your dollar and hear whatever the hell you want. The ironic thing is, the songs thse idiots are yelling out and interrupting the show are always played sooner or later anyway. Almost every group will not leave the stage until they play those songs. So, please shut the fuck up you Top 40 junkies!

  • I saw them in concert last year and they are really an awesome band. Brent is a rare singer in the respect that he acknowledges that it's the fans that put him where he is today. His appreciation to them shows in every performance he gives.

Personally, I can't stand the idiots who yell out for bands to play their hits. These Top 40junkies should just stay at home and listen to Simple Man over and over on their mp3 player. That is so fucking disrespectful.

  • Always see the band at the beginning of the tour lol poor guys voice is shot at this point.

  • he gained about 30 pounds in weight. when u gain so much weight it makes it harder to perform live. i bet he realized it and is trying to lose that extra weight. sadly last time i saw shinedown people in the lawn was tearing up grass and throwing it. same happened during the performance of stone sour

  • He got clean...you put weight on when you get off drugs. Brent is an amazing singer and I'd travel anywhere in the world to see them play. I just saw them in September and his voice was fine.

  • Brent SERIOUSLY needs better stage monitoring. This is horrible....

  • woah... are you on crack?

  • This guy is my favourite singer in the world! And yeah, its weird to see him so out of range... But it maybe his 6th show in 7 days so...! Anyway, even there, he's still way better than Chester Bennington hahaha!

  • the crowd is so annoying

  • hes tired that it !!!

  • I almost wonder if he can't hear himself... technical difficulties

  • Nah, I dont think that was it.. I think your last comment pretty much nailed it..its not that he CANT sing it, its just that his vocals are so damn tired by the end of the set. I actually talked to him after the show and he said something about how they should move Call Me up in the setlist 'cause his voice is so worn by then. haha :P So there ya go, people.

  • man i want to talk to him! ... he came off the stage in South Bend because he wanted everyone to stand and some guy was jsut sitting there. So brent put his hand on the guy shoulder and was like "ya gonna stand man?" and the guy didn't even look at him... just sat there like a sack of potatos... I was pissed because i would like try to shake his hand or something i dont know. not just sit there.... off subject response yes?

  • give him a break dudes, he sings his lungs out every other day for us. We all know he CAN sing the song perfectly. just appreciate it.

  • Agreed this is a bad performance, but then again they are doing a show almost every day and Brent has a history of degraded vocal quality in those situations. This song was recorded with a 20some piece orchestra so it's impressive that they are doing it with pretty much just a piano.

  • This is a piss poor performance. during the whole song i just kept hoping that this is not really shinedown. I'm ashamed.

  • Thats the thing about live bands now a days, the album gets so edited up that a live performance ends up not even close to as good as the album sounds. Thats why he always picks the low notes instead of the high ones. Hes still got a great voice, but Im not a big fan of this song live.

  • Damn, some of the crowd were a bit rude and/or ignorant during his speech at the beginning. I also agree that he was a bit off key, but still a decent performance.

  • It's a hard song to hit, but whatever. I just love hearing him sing. =)

  • this is such a great song shame that brents off key buthis voice is so hard to keep at is best h eat wut ever way he sings!! love the ne album soo much!!

  • Brent sounds a lil bit off key in some parts.

  • Great song! Can't wait to see them next month

  • crowd, shut the fuck up

  • this is actually good quality for a bootleg

  • I LOVE this song.
