  • I dont get it. If you pour liquid clay into that mold, wouldn't the resulting sculpture be solid and not hollow?

  • @cjs33139 no when you pour the slip in to the plaster mould the plaster mould pulls the moister from the outside indward so the outside stays solid while the centre of the casting is still wet slip. it can just poured out and you will be left with the cast piece.

    hope this helps,

    nadav

  • @nadav0ami Yes, it does! Thanks for that. :)

  • What is the percentage of shrinkage on slip from it's green state to after firing? Thanks in advance!

  • OMG!!! it billy maze and vince from sham wow and slap pop

  • Hi, is it possible you could tell me how I make or buy liquid slip?

  • @early1900s

Slip is a mixture of clay and water. to create it, rub and dissolve clay into water. You can play with viscosity by varying the ratios of water or clay. I don't know if you can find a place that sells it pre-mixed, but check out a local sculpture or mould-making store

  • @early1900s I don't know whereabouts you are, but in a shop called Tiranti in London you can buy slip for casting. I imagine most pottery/clay sculpture orientated stores would have it.

  • nice thanks
