Cylinder count and liters the Japanese could get 1218 HP from that displacement. It should be noted though that turbos play a huge roll in Japanese cars.

drum brakes actually work better than disc brakes cause there self energizing, but when wet and with repeat braking rotor style brakes are more efficiant at dissipating heat and sheathing water away...not to say a rusty old drum would outperform a brembo or a stoptech just random facts.
At speeds over 180 the brakes don't work, will burn right out & you won't have anything...if the chute doesn't open you're probably headed towards the net & sand pit at the end of most drag stips....

The Viper's brakes are very stout, but if you watch some drag racing, see what happens to the car when the 'chute doesn't deploy - the car ends up in the sand trap or safety net at the end of the strip's shutdown area. I would not want to rely on just the footbrake @ 220mph. The 2008 NHRA Rulebook under Super Gas states, Parachute - Mandatory on any car with top speed faster than 150 mph. 'Nuff said.
agreed, top fuel dragsters use some of the best brakes, carbon fiber, and even they need a chute, going 220 mph is an EXTREME amount of heat to be dissapated through the brakes and to expect that they will stop u in time isnt that great of an idea, unless u want to warp the rotors by stomping on the until the car stops

well yea but they still WORK. just not powerful enough to slow it down in the length of track they have left, what the guy i replied to was saying was that they do not work period and that is wrong

I am not kidding. The brakes will "function", but not in time. The Viper's brakes are very stout, but if you watch some drag racing, see what happens to the car when the 'chute doesn't deploy - the car ends up in the sand trap or safety net at the end of the strip's shutdown area. I would not want to rely on just the footbrake @ 220mph. The 2008 NHRA Rulebook under Super Gas states, Parachute - Mandatory on any car with top speed faster than 150 mph. 'Nuff said.

agreed, top fuel dragsters use some of the best brakes, carbon fiber, and even they need a chute, going 220 mph is an EXTREME amount of heat to be dissapated through the brakes and to expect that they will stop u in time isnt that great of an idea, unless u want to warp the rotors by stomping on the until the car stops

full breaking on normal disc brakes at 220 mph? for some reason i visualize the pads melting like chocolate.. composite brakes supposedly can brake at whatever speeds... cause they're a bitch to heat up anyways, and they actually work well only when they're hot! :/

HPE raised the vipers horse power to 1050 for every test they done and gave it an aerodynamics upgrade to drop drag coefficient to .39 as well. had none of that happened the viper would've been roasted. and it's funny knowing that the viper is 3400 lbs and the veyron is 4600 lbs and the veyron has much more luxury features.

I respect cars with horsepower, so I'm not a Bugatti Veyron hater. I was just responding to a comment saying that the Bugatti Veyron does better than the Hennessey Viper, when the Viper beat the Veyron in the 0-200 mph competition.

But dont forget that Vipers have dominated Ferrari, Porsche, and Mercedes on the LeMans circuit for an entire decade.

Oh and by the way the Zr1 pretty much put the ACR to shame in every test... ZR1 0-60 in 3.2 sec and the ACR is 3.7....hmmmm, oh and btw the ZR1 only has a 5.2L V8 compared to ACR's 8.4L V10... pretty sad when the ACR only beats the ring time by 4 secs knowing it has that much more displacement

I'm assuming that timeslip at the end gives the elapsed time in minutes? If so, that's a full mile drag in a shade under 24 second! That's RIDICULOUS, especially when you think that a 12 second QUARTER mile time is really good (though admittedly it's not straight math). Crazy stuff!
