  • Oh come on, it doesn't hurt that much, or at least once you get past the initial first burst of pain. The coaches don't start out pushing you that far and it's the fastest way to get splits down. My coach did this on me and I got the splits down in a month.

  • well acually as long as u can do the splits and stuff ur acually fine when it comes to doing that kinda of stretching

  • @figureskater2004 that's not true even if u can split or over split on a mat when some else stretches u it hurts more reason dont know for sure but i know what i said for a fact! lol

  • It's actually very easy. Only one trick: Start really, really, really young! These kids start at the ages of 3, 4, 5.. If not sooner. At that time, your body is very very flexible. Only that with age we stiffen, but if you start as a baby, you don't get stiff, you get more stretchyich. This doesn't even hurt them guys, it's very natural for them already...

  • lol i used to stretch something like that. but that was when i was about 7? then i quit kung fu and now although i'm a gymnast i cant even do a split. in fact i'm lousier than average lol.

  • I think it's awful what the trainers do to those kids. It's sad to know that there are so many kids like this one. The trainers push them so hard, I don't think it's sport anymore.

  • are there any tall gymnasts ? i am 6' 2'' and probably will my son grow up to such height too. Is there a chance he can train for gymnast ? Not a professional one of course, but to be flexible when he grows up ?

  • im 1.86 meter ~ and im streching and doing martial arts since some weeks and the streching works im getting more flexible i think taller guys just have to train a bit harder and ill go to china in some years to learn wushu i think ill be one of the tallest there xD

  • It is actually a nice stretch, I like to stretch like this, even though I can't go quite as far as shown here, but having two helpers makes it easier to relax into the stretch

  • My daughter enjoys this stretch too:) She can get her leg flat on the floor behind her head now, on both sides; people tend to concentrate mainly on their "good" side and neglect their "bad" side. Both sides need to be stretched equally of course.

  • I would even say you need to work more on the 'bad' side - which of course is not a joyful thing to do...

  • zzz my right leg is all flimsy and flexible now. But my left leg is as stiff as a treetrunk. When i do Legs together stretches. My left knee will bend while my right knee goes flat . And that looks realli weird.

  • People need to realize that these kids start at VERY young ages. Kids are extremely flexible when they're young. So starting stretching and flexibility makes it significanlty less painful when strecthing later on in life. So he wouldn't feel the same amount of pain that you would

  • Its not as extreme as it looks: I do this with my daughter every day. It doesnt hurt her at all. You build up to that level; you dont just start with that!!
