I hear Ridley Scott wants to make another Blade Runner movie, not sure if it is in the works. I kind of don't want him to because Hollywood screws up a lot of movies these days.
all hale a masterpiece this will always be the one that was way ahead of its time and to say that the modle of the main set went up in flames coz of the lites getting too hot ( ooooppsssii )
@SCROGY I dont know.. I'm just going to keep my expectations low. Blade Runner was perfect because of the music, actors and time in which the movie was made. A new movie won't have Vangelis(probably), Ford/Hauer and is probably completely cgi.
@23house23 I've read it's going to be a sequel, but not a direct sequel... So with new characters and a new story line. No Deckard. Definitely not a remake if we're to believe Scott. But things can still change. It might become a prequel, who knows.
All these movies clearly overestimated and failed to understand the rise of technology. There probably won't be such a thing as replicants for 3-400 years
@mrprodigy83 Why would you want to remake Blade Runner? Its already perfect. It would just be turned into a mindles action movie with no philosphical meaning at all.
Its normality in hollywood to do mindless movies, and they do not hesitate to touch classics as well. They are already filming "Total Recall", can you believe that?
@mrprodigy83 'Thumbs up if you do not want to see modern remakes of classic movies like Blade Runner, Alien or Conan the Barbarian!'
What a ridiculous idea. The better the film the more interesting it would be to see a new interpretation. If the new interpretation is uninspired, then nothing is lost. If it is inspired, then great, that would be very interesting to watch, just as it is interesting to hear different pianists play good music.
@mrprodigy83 I might argue, however, that the efforts of such an artist would be better spent making something completely new than on re-interpreting an old film.
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain. Time to die."
@MapleLeafAce There are glimpses of Orions Shoulder and the battle of Tannhauser Gate in Soldier, with Kurt Russel, and in it's trailer. I know it's not quite what you mean, but it's there in a tiny way :)
Very cool movie from a PKD root. Scott made a masterpiece on his own terms and it doesn't have a lot to do with Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? – he tells precisely the opposite story from elements of PKD's novel. Film is different than books, ask Tarkovskii. Oh, and bravo Vangelis for the evocative and classy score. I especially like the Byzanto-Nipponese vocals.
I think it's cool how Blade Runner was more realistic with it's flying cars, since only the rich (and the police) can afford them, and unlike most sci-fi movies, the sky isn't covered in flying cars.
This film is performance art from beginning to end . . . no praise high enough, Ridley Scott is a genius, Ford a master, the sequence of photo enhancement - a brilliant combi of retro and futuristic elements and dialogue/sound effect/visual poetry . . . . Ford is flawless here.

i really hope some of this technology/atmosphere will exist in 2019 ... maybe not the 'spinner' flying cars, but the fashion is amazing - plus who wouldn't want to live in Deckard's awesome apt. building with that aztec/mayan sculptured decoration !
@sulev15 On the CD it is called "Main Titles" but every Blade Runner fan knows that this isn't the music that's played over the the film's title in the actual movie. Watch the film and you'll see. The actual "Main Title" music from the film isn't on the CD. Do you know what the term "Main Title" even means?
Also the guys did a great job on the PC game that came out years ago, best film to game converstion in my mind, kept all the same music and the actors voices for their parts. If you find it check it out, has some creepy moments in that too.
Still looks beautiful. No doubt what is achieved in Avatar and films like that is amazing to watch, but a couple of decades and hundreds of millions of dollars later, stuff doesn't look much better than this. Worse in a lot of instances. Bit like the CS-80. Sometimes the old stuff IS the best.
@colin5577 Nice way of putting it mate, I totally agree. I love Avatar and was blow away by it when watched in 3d in cinema, I just thought this is the future. However maybe the absence of money means more creativity. Look at the star wars Franchise, love the originals, but the new one's look too polished, the worlds do not come to life I feel more closer to the action in that Death Star trench than any of the battles in the new films.
Seems like in this film and one of my fav of all time shows that China took over amercia? in the book and film they kept mentioning world war so maybe still great movie.
Harrison Ford's finest production, and that of Vangelis and his wonderful CS-80. Darn it, the sound of that beast gives me the chills everytime I hear it.
put down paris hilton lindsay lohan , go do something useful arrest snoopdoggshit and daddyyankiboysweiners drug dealers and pushers on kids and young whitemx Girls
This movie sums up all what the 80's were all about ... a great period of time where the alchemy were right in about everything ! Blade runner is a perfect alchemy between a great and deep script, terrific music, excellent actors, futuristic special effects, etc ...which made it a milestone on the cinema industry on every aspect ...not like today's crap ! That's why Blade runner is so touching !
I have Blade Runner on HD and its Amazing .....goosebumps isnt the word as the sound track kicks in...its .......a dream....from ......its just special...and I see things in the movie I hadnt seen before every time I watch it......
I think thats a 20 megapixel camera hes using!.. imagine that!! you can zoom in your fotos and see your grandparents humping. in another dimension before you were born!. ahhh the 21st century!
besides in the dvd of blade runner the superb documentary DANGEROUS DAYS vangelis doesn't appear at all, they speak about him but he does not appear at all....... why?....
the producer of the film once said that vangelis was a very good musician, but in those days maybe wasn't the good choice, because like he was composing perfoming recording all alone, the work was delaying too much, so much that he couldn't go to take the oscar for chariots of fire, today everebody speaks great things about the movie and the music, but in 1982 producers the composer and harrison ford were quite ungry with the result........
@drchepa Well actually that whole movie production was apparently a nightmare. I hadn't heard about the discontent with Vangelis, but I'd heard too that Ridley Scott and Harrison Ford had many differences also during the making of the movie. Harrison Ford hated the voiceover from the original and had to do it under protest. Of course the later cuts of the movie don't have the voiceover. The voice WAS shitty I have to agree.
"More human than human". Or more owl than owl.. An interesting aspect of this movie is that when mankind one day is able to create a being far more intelligent and superior to any human, humans will be the ones who are "outdated".
@betterthansex123 I'll to REWATCH it, you stupid : this scene in the video is NOT in the beginning. So the Main Titles had some sound added on, from another scene ! If you can't understand that, fuck you
At the start of this video feature clip at 1:29 - I envision myself entering the mystical realm of the Heaven Divide with the melody of Vangelis brilliant work as my guide. Blade Runner is a film well ahead of its time and just perhaps a reality that awaits mankind.

This is what Ridley Scott was really good at back in the days. Science-Fiction is his thing. His recent trips to big epic scale movies did nothing to me, like Robin Hood, Kingdom Of Heaven etc.
Hence, I'm really glad he'll be directing the upcoming Alien prequel *yay*
@SpyengoEen the extended version of kingdom of heaven is quite better than the original one, for me. but iam agree that the young ridley was much better.......
It's great wonderful move with beautiful music. My favourite sf film ever. Funny but many years ago in 1982/83 this film was beat by "ET" on financial and Oscars!!! Incredible but is was Ridley Scott's total financial failure and no Oscar. But this move is like best wine, older is much better. How many films are the same as that?
@piotrwdk i think the reason why it failed to catch the minstream it was far too new , cyberpunk back then was still relevitively unknown , but blade runner was the film the set the standard right before william gibson released neuromancer and brought into the mainstream , there where only few writers back then of cyberpunk , gibson and dick , asimov and bethke were the americas finest cyberpunk writers
its movies like this that make me wanna look more into transhumanism. I think its humans only option, we have to evolve with the technology. Or technology will evolve over us.
Just a so beautiful and confusing vision! Maybe our world in a couple of decades. With Google as a global world company. Furthermore, what is the name of the new google's mobile? Nexus One, isn't it? Here we go!

El nombre del compositor de cada obra maestra de esta pelicula se llama Vangelis. Si buscas en la web encontraras su discografia, te la recomiendo mucho ya que es uno de los mas grandes maestros de la musica con vida.
This film is the definitive gold standard against which all other sci-fi films have to live up to, the best soundtrack, and visuals, even with all the advances in special effects since then! its influence is everywhere!!
@ArksunSound The irony is that Vangelis didn't want it released because he felt it wasn't good enough, which is why the version with the New America Symphony was released. Vangelis was convinced to release his version much later.
I believe that after the WW3 and the world come into almost extinction they will start building the world again...and if you are alive by then you will probably drive one...

No , I'm sorry, but Carrie Fisher was the original uber babe, Blade Runner is great, but you con't compare it with a milestone in history like Star Wars.
But yes you are right, Rutger Hauer is the best in this movie
In my opinion, this is Vangelis' best work (not that I listen to Vangelis on my iPod, but I loved the soundtrack to this movie. Chariots of Fire gets second place compared to this.
Wouldn't it have been something if Ridley Scott had filmed Solaris? Neither of the films made do justice to that novel, although Tarkosvky's is the superior.
BLADE RUNNER 2 baby!! Can't wait! I hope my man Ridley's gonna shoot it with 3D cameras!

This movie was so far ahead of it's time. And, IMO still holds up quite nicely nearly 30 years later. Kudos to Mr. Scott.

@Mibawls
Maybe not flying cars, but we'll definitely have driverless cars by 2019.
And we might have computers with an IQ equivelent to Darryl Hannah by 2030.

I M P R E S I O N A N T E!!!!

PAPIROLAX 2 years ago
El nombre del compositor de cada obra maestra de esta pelicula se llama Vangelis. Si buscas en la web encontraras su discografia, te la recomiendo mucho ya que es uno de los mas grandes maestros de la musica con vida.
Saludos de Chile =D

This film is the definitive gold standard against which all other sci-fi films have to live up to, the best soundtrack, and visuals, even with all the advances in special effects since then! its influence is everywhere!!

For me, Vangelis finest hour with this soundtrack. The main theme gives me goosebumps every time. Also one of my favourite films of all time.

I get them too as well. So amazing
GrilloJ123 2 years ago
@ArksunSound The irony is that Vangelis didn't want it released because he felt it wasn't good enough, which is why the version with the New America Symphony was released. Vangelis was convinced to release his version much later.

Note to music video uploaders: exclude scenes that show characters talking, unless you include their audio. It just doesn't work otherwise.

Wouldn't it have been something if Ridley Scott had filmed Solaris? Neither of the films made do justice to that novel, although Tarkosvky's is the superior.
