@freesian59 I think you can! They're definitely more adorable than rats! At least they don't have long tails and can get chubby & cute! :) Besides fresh fruits & veggies, my hamsters eat the different kinds of nuts & seeds

@freesian59 Hamsters eat prty much any sort of plant (just make sure it ain't poisonous) and I got recommended to give it a small slice of meat (about the same size and thickness as a fingernail) once a month to make up for the protein they normally get from insects.

And YES you can love hamsters even if you hate rats. It's hard to describe but the feeling you get from a hamster is completely different from the one you get from a rat (and I like both so it's different feelings of liking for me).
