@lw48wp4 you have right.of course this is not ritchie blackmore.two guitarists.with blue guitar is steve morse from deep purple, with red guitar is steave morris from ian gillan band.
WTF??? Helllo Ritchie ? This was your riff. The whole London Orchestra showed up, not to mention some "close" mates? Where the fuck were you? That's a crying shame.
THAT"S RICHIE RIGHT THERE!! Red strat...come on...who else works the tremolo bar like that?!?! This an all-star jam, and some promoter came up with the right numbers for them to say "yes"...must have been a fortune.
No Ritchie Blackmore on that stage. As someone else rightly said, you will never see him sharing the limelight with Steve Morse - chiefly because Morse could make the self-titled 'Man in Black' look like a complete chump without even trying, and Blackmore knows it. Was odd to see Gillan with dark hair again though!
It's Steve Morse, who's been the guitarist in Purple for some time now. Ritchie Blackmore is doing Renaissance type music with his band & wife in Blackmore's Night. Check it out.
Ronnie was under used here. The songs vocals are a bit bland compared to his usual stuff. Listen to him singing sabbath stuff from ozzys era too, you can hear he's kinda bored.
Hate that I got beaten down by a freakin merchant at Sweden Rock Festival before I was heading to the Deep Purple gig. Guess my drunk'ness was too much, still can't remember why he hit me in the face. But I heard this song playing live while sitting in the First Aid tent, bleeding like a geyser
@cjvk3 Not like you're missing much. The guys famous for one riff and had the balls to shittalk Stevie Ray Vaughan & Jimi Hendrix: "Stevie Ray Vaughan was very intense. Maybe that's what caught everybody's attention. As a player, he didn't do anything amazing. " "I was impressed by Hendrix. Not so much by his playing, he wasn't a great player. His guitar playing was always a little bit weird."
There's Blackmore for you. Mr. 3-note Riff. LOSER.
@rythmhawk I agree, I do not think that's Ritchie either. I am not too familiar with his appearance at that time but this guys mannerisms do not seem to match Ritchie's. Not 100% sure but I still think it's a great performance. Wow, Steve Morse is awesome, check him out on another vidoe of this show doing Rainbow in the Dark.
@melodicexp It is A GREAT performance and more because they play also ELF'S songs with DIO from the ''Buterfly Ball''...These songs hasn't been played for years...Steve Morse Also is a HUGE guitar player and a musician in general.
1. where's Richie Blackmore.? 2.It takes three of them to replace Richie B. 3. Steve morse is not as good as Richie Blackmore...if it wasnt for RICHIE, Ian gillan would be who is today,.with a job.this is not deep purple ,with out Richie Blackmore...
@bandi1013 I dont know his name but I think he was in Ian Gillan's solo band Gillan. The reason Ritchie does not appear on this video is because he left and was replaced by Steve Morse.
Dio, Ian Gillan, Jon Lord, Steve Morse, Ritchie Blackmore, London Symphony Orchestra... Even a small drop of awesomeness more and the world would've imploded!
I loved the video, but I do have to say, I was dissapointed because Ritchie Blackmore was NOT in this. The guitar player is Steve Moors from an album with Kansas, "Power" and earlier with his own band, The Dixie Dregs. RIP Ronnie James Dio! I loved ya and can't standd the thought of no new music from you. If you havent seen it yet, look on youtube for Dio "Elektra" for his final recording before sucumbing to stomach cancer. It's a great song!
@runwithawolf I think you're a litle harsh here run. This version is pretty good. Love the massive sound of it and Ronnie joining in. Would have loved to see Richie having fun with them too, but sadly he doesnt seem to like fun too much lately.... ;)
It's not folk pop dumb ass! Its classical/Celtic folk meets progressive rock, which is extremely different I might add! Not that I expect you to know that after calling Blackmore's Night folk pop!
And it is very fun if you enjoy classical guitar and multi-intstrumentalists.
In other words Blackmore's Night is not for the ADD inflicted hard rock fans, BUT its is no where near folk pop (the music is simply too intricate and progressive for pop).
@PsychedelicTeen I love classical guitar and multi-instrumentalists but calling Blackmore Night anything respectable above folk pop is just too derogatory. I don't see how Blackmore's Night is intricate or how the hell you see anything progressive in that. To me it just seems Ritchie wants to retire as a lazy bastard playing a fiddle, and covering every old song he wrote and co-wrote with his wife.
Awesome.. I guess there were also Frank Zappa singin in the chorus, while gillan saying "Frank Zappa and the mothers", but Ritchie Blackmore couldn't be there..playing with Steve Morse..? WTF?! Lol
ok..my bad guys..I guess it isn't Blackmore after all..looks a whole lot like him though..I just can't seem to understand why lifeless assholes wanna try to bitch a total stranger out in responses to a video..anyways..back to this awesome video.
I didn't see no Ritchie Blackmore. Haven't seen him play w/them since 1987. Not sure they needed an orchestra but everyone seemed to be having fun. Gillan and Blackmore infamously hate each other. I mean in a really bad way. I miss Dio so much. What a great metal role model.
@ipoturic I binged and found a Tony Lommi as the others have mentioned. He played with Black Sabbath and Ozzy. After all the photos that I saw, I have to agree with zulerna and TurboFang about Tony playing left handed. Tony does look a lot like the guy playing the red guitar. But I found a photo of Richie with THAT guitar. I have been unable to find any documentation to confirm that Richie was indeed there.
What a retard. Ritchie Blackmore wasn't within fucking earshot of this gig.
Get your eyes (and ears) checked. If Blackmore had been there, you wouldn't be hearing much else but him tearing the whole room a 2nd and 3rd arsehole.
@hagan4860 man, do yo really think that guy is ritchie blackmore? i'm a deep purple fan, and let me tell you... why don't you see that fuckin' dvd and look if he is blackmore? i mean, if you think that guy is rb you don't know a shit! however, in the dvd credits you can see that guitar players name, he's not ritchie blackmore
The Original line up of Purple was by far the best ever. Gillan on lead vocal, Ronnie James Dio was great, Joe Lynn Turner had his day in the sun, The Battle rages on, said all there is to say, Gillan and Blackmore can not stay in the same room or on the same stage, but together, they have made wonderful rock music for 36 years I recall. I love to rock, my wife loves Classical music, we only agree on Deep Purple.. Please Mr. Ritchie, let Mr. Gillan give you one more lesson in what success means
The guitar player is Steve Morris - an old buddy of Ian Gillan, appearing on some of his solo albums such as Toolbox and Naked thunder - check them out!
Nossa !!!! Não acredito que um idiota teve a coragem de dizer que essa formação é com Ritchie Blackmore.............e Detalhe , ainda escrever Blacmare ....sem comentário para você se desenformado .
That's true, the second guitarist resembling Tony Iommi a little is Steve Morris who worked with Ian Gillan during his solo projects. Do not mistake him with the first guitarist, Steve Morse.
R.I.P. you Metal God...you cannot imagine how much uve touched my life with ur voice...i will make sure that I like so many others will keep your legacy living on forever!!
I've said "hat guy is not Ritchie nor Tony Iommi", I meant "He is not Ritchie, and He is not Tony Iommi either". I guess I've written fine. And if I didn't, I said "Sorry for my english". And I also said the guy in the video "is part of the orchestra".
Ronnie James Dio (and Ritchie Blackmore) never had a better line-up since Rainbow in 1976-1977 when they recorded Rising. To me, Tarot Woman remains the most emblematic heavy rock song ever.
Rest in Peace Ron, we'll all miss you, but we'll never forget you.
This "man in black" is not Ritchie Blackmore, nor Tony Iommi. I don't know who is he, but unfortunatelly, he is not one of them for sure. Anyway, the gig is excelent! :)
I think the guy next to steve morse might be rocky blakemore - not sure.

That's true, the second guitarist resembling Tony Iommi a little is Steve Morris who worked with Ian Gillan during his solo projects. Do not mistake him with the first guitarist, Steve Morse.

Now,if Dio,Gillan,Tony and Ritchie did an album together, that would be great! But unfortunately,it wont happen.

the guy in black is actually Larry Iomi, tonys little brother
werjuke138 1 year ago
Actually....looking at it again, the man in black cannot be TONY IOMMI as the man here plays right handed and Tony plays left....obvious really.

Gillan, Dio, Glover, Paice, Lord, Lommi and others...but no Blackmore.

This "man in black" is not Ritchie Blackmore, nor Tony Iommi. I don't know who is he, but unfortunatelly, he is not one of them for sure. Anyway, the gig is excelent! :)
