awesome dessign, i like the way one side goes down and one goes up however you could use the touch sensor to tell the robot when it is going to pick something up.

no not a 1 kit robot its kinda like a 1 kit that makes as many robots as you can think of :P its really fun but sometimes my programing fails bu thats allright its really intresting to know there is probably more then 1 million robot designes that we havent discovered yet ;P

You should get the light value of the tube and see if your arm can recognize it by itself

no the NXT motor have more than enough power, its just take i have to program the NXT to do things whereas if i use power functions, i could control it

very nice design, i like how you geared the motor that raises/lowers the arm so that it stays level and acts as a counter balance. maybe future versions could have a wrist? (I tried that once, it ain't easy.)

You might consider having it close jaws and lower arm at the same time. When you do that kind of work with your arm, you start to close your hand while you reach down.

Yes it will as long as it has a G3, G4, G5 600MHz, 256Mb RAM, 300 MB free HDD space and 1 USB port then yeah it will. Apart from that i cant say anything more then that as i have a windows pc and dont know anything about MACs. Hope that helps.
