I am 60 years young and in all of those years of listening to everything from Jim Reeves, Peter, Paul and Mary, Coltrain, Armstrong, Sinatra, Elvis, Beattes, Santana, Pink Floyd, Enigma...I can't remember hearing this quality of music and being so overlooked.
A progressive radio station in Portland, Oregon gave this song good play time and sponsored the group at a small venue in town. Love the voice and depth of the instruments.
@festrunk I think it sounds alot like Peter Weller (of The Jam and The Style Council). The song itself sounds like an old Burt Bachrach tune from the 1960's.
@jamiegwain Hi Jamie - I'll ask Liam about gigs next time we speak - if you've a Facebook account there's a page and group for Liam (and ones for Cousteau) which I keep updated, as well as the My Space accounts.
I have the Cousteau and Sirena albums. Hadn't heard this song in quite a while and it made me regret not seeing the band when they played in Los Angeles.
@tonystower Hi Tony - the guys are fine, and yep, a sadly overlooked group. Often wonder why some groups just seem to be missed despite their obvious talents.
@Dawoodcock I told Liam back in New York that I couldn't understand why Cousteau weren't HUGE. When I quoted "Damn These Hungry Times," he looked wistful. Last time I had any contact with Robin, he was doing the interior decor thing. What's he up to?
Jajaja, esta rola está muy padre, la voz sensual del cantante me fascina, y la conocí por accidenta, tuve que perseguirla en internet para saber como se llamaba, Enjoy it!!! The last good day of the year!
i know the drummer........................ hes a twat!!!!!! no seriously i do know the drummer and he IS a twat!!!! the barge should of sunk with u on it ha ha ha
Awesome tune. I've always enjoyed it ever since it came out few years ago. And apparently judging from these comments, this song seems to be a big hit with the italians.
Well Cousteau have now sadly disbanded, but in the coming years I'm certain that they will be regarded as one of the most beautiful and profound bands of our generation. I love Gary Clark and The Blue Nile, but these boys oh god they really break your heart.
The video doesn't really do this song justice. I highly recommend listening to this with headphones, at high volume, on a lazy Sunday with a glass of scotch....and a woman nearby.......
Had this song on my ipod as an unnamed track years ago, ever since it broke i've been trying to find out what this song was called, only being able to remember 'fallen fruit and flowers', and its taken the internet to progress for me to find it!!Great track
@SiEnergia Have you listened to Liam's solo album and his vocals for Alessandro Maganini? Search for McKahey on here and some of the tracks are available to play.
@MrLakukaracha I can't translate this properly but believe it's saying something about nostalgic sound. If anyone can let me know the English I would be grateful
This is in Serbian. : ) And now the translation: I shudder, what a voice! And you're right, I forgot to mention the unreal sound of nostalgia. Wonderful! Thanks for upload! Greetings from Serbia!
@MrLakukaracha Thank you so much for the comment, Liam's voice is extremely good - hope you've had a chance to hear his new songs, and the vocals he did for Alessandro Magnanini, very different sound.
@Paponetti How odd - considering that My Sweet Lord was based on Chiffons One Fine Day. This song has more often been compared to Bacharach's Walk On By.
Who cares, the song stands up as a fine song, well played, well sung and much loved by a lot of people.
@Paponetti One Fine Day must have something to do with this if My Sweet Lord was a copy of One Fine Day (and that was a court decision so you cannot argue about it, Harrison had to pay royalties to the other songwriters).
I'll let Davey Ray Moor know you think he has copied someone else's song,
@OcchioniApotropaici Question has been answered before, a model/actress hired for the day. Sorry, the video was made prior to my managing the group so I have no details of her name.
Davey Ray Moor left Cousteau to do other projects. He produced Christina Dona and Mombassa, and released a 'solo' album called Telepathy (look under the name Stellar Ray). And there is more to come from Davey, be patient (although it will not be with Cousteau.)
ayy como me encanta esta cancion y el video me produce nose como definirlo pero es muy lindo...es muy sensual el video,el lugar, como el esta vestido(no me puedo resisistir a un hombre asi en traje=P ),en fin todo
This is the only song from this guy that is any good but it is nevertheless amazingly beautiful and I can`t get it out of my head -for years - love it , love it. video is so stupid , so dated but ignore it and listen to the lyrics - so moving.
Saw them live in croydon many years ago and they blew me away! Great songs , Vocals and excellent live..very original sound what more could you want from music!
Well that makes a change from being compared to Scott Walker, Nick Cave, Bowie etc. Interesting - Zappa was deep voiced of course but I'd not considered a comparison, will re-visit my Zappa stuff.
His voice is so good. I fell in love with his voice before I knew about them at all. I've been listening to this song for the past couple of days, over and over again and finally today it is the first time I'm watching the video. So I know what they look like now :) But I can't believe they broke up. So sad. Bands who make such great songs should never break up.
Liam now lives in Australia so it does make it more difficult to remain a group. It doesn't mean there will never be any more music from them, but the chance of gigs is fairly remote in the current financial climate.
Hi - I'm the group's PA. They are not doing anything as a group, but Liam has just released his first solo album which you can check out on My Space.
To find the Cousteau My Space you need to look for Cousteaunovascotia where I've put a discography and you can hear four tracks from Nova Scotia and see all the videos. On You Tube look for How Will I Know, Ruinous Blue, She Don't Hear Your Prayer and You My Lunar Queen to hear other songs. Contact me if you need any further information.
Heard this song years ago, but no one here in the US had ever heard of them. The song is truly beautiful. I agree that it's a light's off with a glass of wine kind of song.

@Paponetti And they have t say when they copy. Many people still thinks tha the melody is from Cousteau.
Me too, for example, thought that Dancing in the Moonlight was Toploader's song. I couldn'tknow that was an old song of the King Harvest.
