WTF would anyone go on and on about Canada.I've lived here for 33years,the fucking climate is balmy, hot enough to fry an egg off the sidewalk in summer, and cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey in winter.Plus the fucking allergies and weird pollen in the air of all types. Plus newer Canadians have NO identity and overall do NOT adjust to the ways of Canada. it's as expensive as hell and we're taxed to the hilt!
I used to like it,now it sucks and my CANADIAN GF thinks the same!
@reddrobbo After watching TOTPs I looked up my Guinness Book of British Hit Singles and was amazed to find that this excellent song never even charted in the UK! I wonder if Iain Bairnson lent David Paton his Les Paul here and also, if so ,was this the guitar that Iain used to record his solo on Kate Bush's 'Wuthering Heights' ?
The edition of Top of the Pops this comes from (24 June 1976) was shown on BBC4 on Thursday and is on the BBC iplayer for the next week or so. If you're quick you'll catch it!
I cannot believe this wasn't a hit. The lyrics are a bit trite but the tune, the harmonies, the guitar solo are all first class. Was going first on ToTP cursed? A lot of the bands I've seen opening the show in 1976 flopped.
Love the old days... The singer is playing the guitar players Les Paul (the one from most of the Magic videos) the added bass player is playing the singers bass (the one from most of the january videos) Love these guys... they just don't write songs like this anymore! :)
Thanx for these rarities Nigel. I see Paton plays rhythm guitar and wonder who's the extra member playing bass. Although I think they were in playback here.
No problem mate. Nice to see you've been on a bit of a Pilot marathon :P Years ago when pilotpotty had this video up the bass player actually commented on the video stating that was him in the video and how he helped on morin heights. He also said they did a performence like this but with the track 'running water', written by Ian
My big sisters old boyfriend when they were both at Liberton High.Edinburgh. I saw them live at the usher hall back in the 70's.and smokie were the back up band
