  • And they became the Alan Parsons Project - how great is that! I always loved them!!!

  • This song is massively underated! it should get more recognition than it does.

  • @reddrobbo After watching TOTPs I looked up my Guinness Book of British Hit Singles and was amazed to find that this excellent song never even charted in the UK! I wonder if Iain Bairnson lent David Paton his Les Paul here and also, if so ,was this the guitar that Iain used to record his solo on Kate Bush's 'Wuthering Heights' ?

  • I love the double neck guitar, cool!

  • The edition of Top of the Pops this comes from (24 June 1976) was shown on BBC4 on Thursday and is on the BBC iplayer for the next week or so. If you're quick you'll catch it!

I cannot believe this wasn't a hit. The lyrics are a bit trite but the tune, the harmonies, the guitar solo are all first class. Was going first on ToTP cursed? A lot of the bands I've seen opening the show in 1976 flopped.

  • @reddrobbo Yeh i watched it, was really hoping to see a clip of Pilot, but none whatsoever. Bay City Rollers got a mention though

  • Love the old days... The singer is playing the guitar players Les Paul (the one from most of the Magic videos) the added bass player is playing the singers bass (the one from most of the january videos) Love these guys... they just don't write songs like this anymore! :)

  • Great song, great album, great group. They put on a terrific live show too.

  • Thanx for these rarities Nigel. I see Paton plays rhythm guitar and wonder who's the extra member playing bass. Although I think they were in playback here.

  • @urbania70

No problem mate. Nice to see you've been on a bit of a Pilot marathon :P Years ago when pilotpotty had this video up the bass player actually commented on the video stating that was him in the video and how he helped on morin heights. He also said they did a performence like this but with the track 'running water', written by Ian

  • @nigelo92 Do you mean PilotPotty himself plays the bass here?

  • @urbania70

Nah, she posted all PILOT clips before me, but her account has been closed for whatever reason

  • OMG is davie playing ians 59 les paul ?

  • @imalaffer So it seems Joel. In fact there's an extra member on bass

  • @imalaffer Aye mate, he is, he is! Scots can do that! ;-)

  • Love these guys! I have all of their albums and they are all excellent! Very catchy songs.

  • Big hit in Brazil too, back in 1976.

  • My big sisters old boyfriend when they were both at Liberton High.Edinburgh. I saw them live at the usher hall back in the 70's.and smokie were the back up band

  • my first single....when i w 5 y old!!!!

  • This tune is from their best album Morin Heights recorded in Quebec Canada..

  • nice vid but is there no flawless copy of this one?

  • RIP BILLY LYALL........
