I was reading movie listings from the newspaper when I was 16 months old (in 1980...no Baby Einstein back then, either). If an infant is given a print-rich, literacy-rich environment, they too will see it as a viable way to interact with the world. I taught my 20-month-old cousin to read quite a few words phonetically in just three days.
