hindi is not just one of many languages,hindi is the nation's official language. that doesnt mean everyone speaks it..but educated ppl, or ppl in tv, usually do. so it is actually quite surprising

that is true. hindi and english are the languages being used by the central government in administration in delhi. that does not make it of a higher level than other languages in the country.

the languages which are printed on any of the currency notes of india (i think there are around 14) are all the official languages of india. these include hindi, tamil, marathi, gujarati, punjabi, konkani, bengali, kanada and other languages.

Also, I presume you are not Indian, since you would have known that knowledge of English, rather than Hindi is a social indicator of being educated (however prejudiced that may be). The entire Southern part of India does not speak HIndi at all.

If there can be any national language it has to be sanskrit and not hindi.
