I was 16 when I bought this tape and I bought it because I loved the Dan Hartman song, but after listening to the tape time and time again, I fell in love with this song just as much as I loved "I can dream about you"
@Nickmack1973december Or, as the producer said after seeing the ticket numbers after opening weekend, "Tonight is what it means to be dead" (true story).
Hey kiddies, I was 21 years old when this came out. Streets of Fire was directed by Walter Hill who also directed "The Warriors" (you'll note some of the actors/actresses in both films). Both films have great soundtracks- Streets of Fire was billed as a "Rock and Roll Fable" it still is one of my favorite films- Long Live Rock-
@ 3:03 I close my eyes and my spirit soars so high that can dance with stars, dreams and angels... That part of the song it's epic and timeless. A great classic that will never die.
Not the best film I have ever seen but classic Jim Steinman soundtrack and it takes me right back 30 yrs..........I played it on my i-pod when I was at the gym this morning, hell of a workout but hurting now.....lol...Loved you then Diane and still love you now
One little click...that's all it was. Now I'm transported to 1984 and I'm a junior in high school again. Music moves me but GREAT MUSIC takes me back. Great movie, greater song, sublime beauty (Diane Lane) who is still luscious. Current music can only make me move my bowels.
She's pretty hot but the song is too much like Bonnie Taylor's original "Bright Eyes". This movie was about rock n roll and the main character was like Bruce Springsteen. Someone should do a real bio pic on Bruce Springsteen's youth and raise to stardom.
@rodneywar you are joking I think.,... do you have ears? this song is full of madness and dynamite.... where is a similarity?????? I think you have no idea ;bout the music. All in theme.
@rodneywar Both songs were written by Jim Steinman, who is also famous for writing the vast majority of Meat Loaf's hits (including "I'd Do Anything For Love" and "Paradise by the Dashboard Light"), "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" by Celine Dion and "Making Love Out of Nothing At All" by Air Supply. So if this song and Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" sound similiar, it's because you are recognizing Steinman's traits as a songwriter.
@rodneywar All of that said, I still think the songs are different enough where it's not any kind of ripoff or attempt at a rewrite. That's like saying you're not a fan of The Beatles song "Help" because it sounds too much like "I Want To Hold Your Hand". They both have the signature sound of the people who wrote them but aren't neccesarily rewrites.
this song is great it remains me my youth 14 yrs old back then my cousin and i went to see the movie,my mother bought me the sound track.we played this SONG over and over, right now i'm 41 married with childrem, mortgage, and couple of dogs,i'm happy but whem i listen to this song i feel like the little boy i was it bring me back to the 80's the best decade of my life.whem i was free only once we are young and i really enjoy my youth no regrets i wish i could go back in time just to party like them
Lame how the drums you see the guy playing (acoustic) and the drums you hear (electronic) are not one in the same. In the 80's, it seemed that electronic drums were everywhere. Everyone was using them and also Key-Tars (keyboards held up like guitars). Yuk.
I just read Daniel Ch. 8 and had to listen to this again; it features Gabriel, an angel whose touch has got the power to restore one from being stunned!!
Actually the acting and dialogue were perfect for this type of movie...reminiscent of the tough guy 30's James Cagney combined with the tough guy Peter Fonda in Easy Rider...a timeless classic!
they need this on itunes
