@inkey2 HA, yeah, I think you're right.! "Grandma says Jackie gotta come home right away, Momma gonna shoot Papa....no that's too strong...Important business!"
Everything the old man says applies to drivers today just as it did then. The only difference is that in his time, a few people paid attention and observed the safety rules. Not anymore, today it's everyone for themselves. What a pitiful world we live in today.
@NakedMariner I think I disagree with you. Cars and roads are safer and better than in 1935. Also, in 1935 most of the population was drunk. There were fewer rules back then, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Too many rules today, and ridiculously low speed limits. That's why so many people disregard them. What bothers me most about today's average driver is all the distractions. Yacking on the phone, eating, playing with the toys on the dash, everything but concentrating on the road.
@wsbill14224 You're right when you say today's cars and roads are safer than in 1935, but where do you get the idea that most people were drunk at that time? Prohibition had ended just 3 years before, and while enforcement wasn't what it is today, I think all in all, people were more responsible then than they are now. And that's without even considering other controlled substances!

Very much a product of its time, watch for the trains -- all class one passenger trains and at speed.
