  • God my freind is such a troll DM if i walked into a cave he would make a giant creature appear that would suprise attack me and constrict me. ( im talking about DnD the real life version.

  • Im gonna get this game off of GOG.com for 3 dollars =D

  • @TheRaggetyDoctor Seriously? THanks for telling me where to get it. Depending on how this LP goes, I might just buy it, if I like it.

  • u sound like TotalBiscuit

  • Decide to go look into a lets play of this. Find this which seems well put together on the list. Shrug and click it. The video's good quality and voice work make me :D. Yea, I'm definitely going to look into more work from Kiko.

  • what happens in the forgotten realms stays in the forgotten realms

  • you are a DM ? :D

  • Just shut the fuck up and play the game !

  • You could be a pretty great voice actor if you wanted.

  • I'm a new fan of yours, Kikoskia. Have you played Pathfinder RPG?

  • Why does ever fantasy rpg start with giant rats?

  • @SuperLightHorse they're still better than differently sized jellies and blobs :D

  • @WinterXL Cast open rat? Most underrated feat evar.

  • What happens in Forgotten Realms if you worship nobody?

  • It's not good for you, that's for sure. Your soul is ultimately destroyed though.

  • @Kikoskia not really, you can just worship ideals, like chaos/law, good and evil etc. no penalties

  • @Kikoskia But wasn't that fate a perversion? I remember this really dickish god created that wall, and that you can utterly destroy it in one of the Baldur's Gate games or something.

  • @malonemalo When you die, you are stuck to the wall of souls like spackle. No happy ending when you die lol

  • @malonemalo There are alot of 'groups' in the Forgotten realms that are faithless. The area where you will learn most about them is in planescape torment however. They tend to be less in touch with magic, but are not hindered by ideological rules, nor does any particular faith have any special power over them, save physical magic of course.

  • @PaperSoapy I need to amend this, by making a point. This does not apply to forgotten realms when it comes to the pen and paper version. This, as far as I have seen, as only been true in game in which the developers took creative license, as for all d&d rules and lore, unless stated officially by wizards of the coast, and or Hasbro, or put in the d&d books, this is not an official part of the lore. This is merely something I have come across in some of the video games that are in the FR.

  • @malonemalo From what I read (and as far as I remeber) if your character die you go to Kelemvor's sphere and you are imprisoned and attached to Wall of Souls forever. For more info visit forgotten realms wiki.

    BTW

For my session I have modified this conception and my Game Master is currently using it. If you worship nobody you just reincarnate after death. Only these who "played" with necromancy (f.e. liches who were prolonging artificially lives after their death) are punished by Kelemvor.

  • @GrizzliPL Yeah Neverwinter Nights 2 Mask of betrayer is based on the wall of the faithless story line

  • it is dangerous to go alone, take me.

  • CAST OPEN LOCK ON THE RAT

  • that voice... i kant get it outa my head. the nightmares im gona have~!!!!!

  • that voice... i aknt get it outa my head. the nightmares im gona have~!!!!!

  • I'm sure someone else has said it already, but my goodness we need that voice in Hollywood.

    "HELLO, I'M NIGEL THORNBERRY!"

  • I can't find the tutorial in the main menu.

    It's not there.

  • wait...it has a tutorial in the main menu? OMFG I'M SUCH A NUB!

  • OH GOD THATS WHERE I WENT WRONG!

I never did the tutorial :(

  • i know i`m gonna be the BLACK SHEEP of the comments right here but D&D4 isn`t that bad!

Ok it has some flaws but its fun!

  • Its now on GOG for $6!

  • it almost sound like dicovery channel

  • Hunger...=Strength? Hmm...Perhaps, by starving my character, I'll get that extra STR point I need!

  • elemental EVIL *pinky in mouth*

  • You kow, after playing a lot of PC and console RPGs, where you can just cast spells you know, the hole preparing spells of D&D seems really clunky.

  • Oh yes, the tutorial. I rather liked it, actually. Such a shame I couldn't have had the sorceress from it. :(

  • have you played any other D&D crpg games? I'm rather fond of the icewindale games.

  • looks like a bad ripoff of warcraft, but then again, warcraft is just like a good ripoff of dungeons and dragons

  • @fantasycoproduction replace dungeons and dragons with warhammer

  • @fantasycoproduction Warcraft is actually based on warhammer, but you know what? nobody really cares right now. we're all here to have fun watching Kiko playing aren't we? :D

  • Why does the evil have to be elemental?

  • have you played version 4 yet i like it

  • @the8lbfish everyone is entitled to there own opinon, me I hate 4e with a passion only because they dumbed everything down and tossed off alot of the things that made D&D well D&D in order to bring new player to the table which wouldn't of been a bad idea if WOTC didn't make it the main game instead they should of done what TSR did when they made AD&D and make 4e a sepreate tone downed version(like TSR's D&D basic) for inexperianced players but it's WOTC and they can't do anything but CCG's.

  • @Evilmonkey66699 I like some of the concepts and new races/monsters added to 4e, as well as some of the new class classifications... but I just incorportated the changes i liked into my cutsom 3.5 game.

  • @Evilmonkey66699

I joined pretty late in 3 life span and i could not for the life of me dm in that version. i could draw maps and create somewhat interersting dungeons and chraters and plots but moster encounters were beyond me. version 4 makes DM ing so much easyer and i apreciated that

Also i refuse to correct mmy spelling so ha

  • This game was hard. It doesn't pull out any stops, as there is no human DM there to scale things down a little if it looks like you are going to die.

  • Lol, well, Sir Shmoopy's second body of James worships nobody, and he was doing fine!

... Then again, we was 'different.'

But, yeah, never saw or heard of this game, looks cool, loving it so far, plan on watching you play it all. :D

  • woot someone else who watches urealms

  • there should be a lockpicking minigame like in oblivion, and i think you should do oblivion as a let's play sooner or later

  • I love the narritive you do, especially when your speaking for other charatcers and your own in dialogue. I love how you give the damsel in distress voice for women, and the heroic manly voice for your own dude lol keep it up!

  • COOL! I've heard about this game but never played it. I like the cliche start to the adventure, you just happen to wander around and you just happen to stumble across a green glowing cave..... oooooooo. I'll be tuning into these vids!

  • the actual module was so awesome for this, but... this didn't touch it.

  • 0-o

  • It's a crime that this engine was never used to make another game. Best adaptation of D&D to computer game ever.

  • @LetsPlayPC

It was used to make Arcanum as well - another Troika RPG.

  • Kikoskia.

    I have a request!

Would you consider doing a let's play of the Icewind dale or the baldur's gate games?

Im a life long fan of those games as they were what I played during my school days and I would LOVE to see you play them

  • I have uploaded the soundtrack of this game to Megaupload! If anyone wants a link to download it, send me a private message please. :)

  • Seriously, every single video you upload cracks me up. Your voice acting/narration is just simply brilliant :)

  • 7:00

    I sense a Munchkin reference... 8D

You have just become even more win.

  • His feats are on his legs! :3

    *ba-dum tish!*

    *dead silence*

    ._.

    I'll just be going now...

  • Agreed, 4th edition isn't real D&D, it's Hasbro being greedy!

  • @theblocksays Hell, I still play 2nd edition.

  • i'm glad he's not a bear naked man.

also if he has no feets how dous he walk? (canned laghter)

  • Man, I feel bad for Troika. Arcanum had an awesome story and great immersion, but suffered from a horrible combat system, while this game had a very good combat system but a mediocre-at-best storyline. Their RPGs had class, though; too bad they're gone now.

  • @GentlemanOrcus1: Vampires: The Masquerade - Bloodlines had style, panache, and an awesome 1/2, but as buggy as hell, and had an all-too-lengthy sewer level.

  • @Nietzschianbarn

I agree. If you can hold your nose through the sewer level then Bloodlines is one of the better games ever made.

  • @GentlemanOrcus1 I imagine Troika didn't have much freedom with this game as they did a game and story entirely of their own creation like Arcanum was.

  • Why are you casting magic missile? there's nothing to attack here... um, i'm attacking the DARKNESS!!! *everyone laughs*

  • I wonder if there are any demons in this dungeon.

And yay.. Mr Generic Man :|

  • Oh i remember this game :D

  • if you ever run into orcus head for the nearest medium door. he can't get through

  • Not true, armor class starts at at least 11 for your basic naked rogue (yay Dex)

  • ui.... you're an DnD player too? great haha... I'm curious for this game... I hope it has a great halfling character ^_^.... *loves halflings* either that or a nice story connected to Bane ^^... yaaay :)

  • I love 4E, even if it's not my favorite system.

A good DM can do a lot for any system, and 4E is well-constructed and well-balanced for what it is. I play in and DM a few fantasy campaigns, and we play in several different systems depending on setting. 4E for one, Pathfinder for another, and a heavily houseruled HERO system for another. No reason to hate on a system when you can either simply not use it or only use it when its strengths play well with your stories.

  • I like return to the temple of elemental evil a bit more, though this is one of the games I never really got into, I have it...I should play it some time.

Also 4.0 IS well designed for what it does, that is it is a great game for quick and easy games that quickly bring you up to high levels and then have strong boss monsters for you to fight once you are at level 30.

  • Kiko, ultimate win for hating 4.0 rules. It's a disgrace to what makes DnD so awesome. It's too simplified (not to mention unbalanced), heavily marketed with extra junk, and people who grow up playing it will never understand how awesome older versions were.

2 of my friends bought books for 4.0. Unfortunately, that money was wasted, because we let both of them read up on it, and put together a campaign for us. We hated it so much that we naturally went back to 3.5 after both attempts.

  • whats wth all the 4.0 hate? *asked as I am reavelling in the glory of my new Pathfinder books*

  • Good thing you ran into a giant rat instead of a house cat. Unparalleled lethality to commoners and first level spellcasters in 3.5.

Personally, I've always been more of a Shadowrun man myself. Sadly, Microsoft has decided to take the license and just piss all over it rather than making a decent video game out of it, so the Genesis version remains the only decent Shadowrun game I'm aware of. (The SNES Shadowrun is not even remotely close to the P&P game and is terrible.)

  • @Zaodai

Granted, the SNES Shadowrun is removed from the P&P style, but it is a great game in it's own right. A bit linear, yes, but good story and GREAT atmosphere.

  • @skunknuts1

Unfortunately the decent story and atmosphere are offset by fairly craptastic controls, at least in my experience, and some of the "puzzles" make absolutely no sense. I'd object less to it if it weren't called Shadowrun, but I still don't think I could consider it a great game. Maybe an average game. Unique, but not impressive on it's own merits.

Just my opinion of it, though.

  • A temple of elemental evil playthough? Thank you, kikoskia. That's one of the games that should make very interesting LP. Incidentally, one I enjoyed a lot.

  • Great job Kiko just as all your LPs are I'm doing LPs as well but I am no where as good as you..I hope to achieve your coolness one day:)

  • Rats. Bane of all RPG heroes, at least for the first hour.

  • Lord you can tell this is by the maker of Arcaunm. A much better game in my thoughts than this one though.

  • Yes, sir, 4th edition should be banished to the Underdark.

  • I really wanted to enjoy this game. But it was so buggy, the most annoying being the all too common save game corruption. It will be interesting to see how you get around something like this, unless there is an unofficial patch you've installed that dealt with this issue?

  • @oyleslyck damn i recall that the reason i sold this game -,-,

  • Ok, I am sorry I missed out on the whole 3.5 area of D&D, however, I played the Basic and Advanced D&D while growing up and played 2nd addition.I now play 4E and am quite satisfied with it, and I do not understand the hostility towards this gaming system.Once the rules are learned (just like with any D&D version) you will find that you can quickly start a game. First level characters don't suck anymore, and gaming tables are few and simple.D&D needed to make this change to survive. 4E is fine.

  • I really enjoyed your Doom LP, but unfortunately turn-based RPGs bore me to no end. I look forward to your DOOM 2 LP.

  • Buttt that's why we love kiko! Because he Let's Play EVERYTHING.

  • Why does your character start already at Level 2? And why doesn't your character automatically unlock something if he has that skill already? Seems like an extra simply to make things more awkward.

  • This looks like its going to be fun to watch. I can't wait.

Keep up the great videos Kiko.

  • I agree with "Version 4 can go to hell" ^_^ 3.5 was so much better.

Another game, "Not-D&D Universe-Related",that is, made a sort of 3.6 good version, but unfortunately I don't remember the name of that game.

Now, talking about evil, I have a question for you, Kikoskia.

You've mentioned Cthulhu in several occasions throughout your Let's Plays.

Have you ever wanted to take on - LP, that is - a Cthulian adventure, like Dark Corners of Earth or the even better good-ol' Shadow of the Comet?

  • Is it bad that I was expecting the adventurer to say UPDATED MY JOURNAL at any moment?

  • Dooooooom..., I mean EEEEEEEEVIIIL...

  • Your hatred of 4th edition makes me smile.

  • lol the funny thing is in the old Swedish "rip off" of D&D one of the playable races are humanoid ducks (and yes they look something like Donald Duck)

  • I feel the overwelming urge to... to... ADVENTURE!!!

But by D&D crew is out of town due to the holiday.

Curse you Kiko, I was almost cured of this.

(btw, 3.5 so much better than 4.0)

  • Oh, this'll be brilliant. A fine choice! =D And I totally agree to you: 3.5E is my favourite, and 4E is rubbish.

  • @SirPercivalGallant I'll never give up AD&D 2nd Ed. Nor will I give up The D&D Rules Cyclopedia...

  • @SirPercivalGallant

I liked 3.5 too. It was aiming for realism, which is nice (except, I never understood why they didn't get rid of those stupid armor classes, Star Wars RPG had the right idea if you ask me). Got 4.0 here too, but I haven't tried it properly yet.

  • @SirPercivalGallant: Fourth edition Dungeons & Dragons: when you're not aware that Blizzard already has the rights to a pen & paper role-playing game.

  • @Nietzschianbarn

I like 4E because the rules are a lot less open to interpretation. And for non-ubernerds like me, the added emphasis on the gameplay aspects and lesser emphasis on the nerdtastical roleplaying make the game vastly more palatable.

  • @Hndshks: In short: 4E took away all the role-playing elements, and replaced them with what feels like a 'WoW-killer' system (everyone's equal, m'kay!)

If I wanted to play a 'WoW killer' -- or Fallen Earth (Gamma World MMORPG) -- I'd have simply ordered the pizza, and stayed at home!

  • Oh god, a gazebo!

  • oh my word, i will very much enjoy this LP series ! this game is a masterpiece

  • this id gonna be a long game, just the way you like them ;)

    ever played hexplore?

  • Nice, Kiko! I'm looking forward to this one. By the way, you can use the arrow keys instead of the mouse to move the camera. I've found that works much quicker that moving the mouse to the edge of the screen.

  • Kiko you make the best Ultima and D&D roleplaying game videos. I LOVE how you give voices to everyone. It truly changes the feel of the game. I am especially enjoying the serpent isles. I am so glad it wasn't a short expansion and is taking a ton of videos just like the core game. Keep it up Kiko, I never thought you'd last this long as an LP'er. I hope you don't get bored like the others. I love your videos.

  • Sweet. I love D&D :D

  • This looks like it will be interesting

    "is it a duck?"

Now now kiko, you should know better then to pick up a duck in a dungeon. :p

    "Is it a gazebo?"

Remember, they are weak to fire...

  • me thinks ill like this LP

  • Troika!!!!!!

Speaking of Troika, my life will be complete the day you do a LP of Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

  • 3.5 > 4.0

I don't know anything about D&D, but I hear it all the time.

This is making me want to finally learn how to play.

  • lol ?nerd rage? @ version 4!

  • I am excited to see this game, cause every time I have tried to play something stopped me. Theft, bugs, computer meltdown... its all happened to me.

  • @Treble0096 Well, it IS the Temple of Elemental Evil. Obviously, some of the evil leaked out.

  • A dead rat? You can make a new weapon by tying its tail to the end of a stick and making a rat flail.

  • I never completed this game, got far, but was having problems, no good weapons and armour.

  • lol whenever you start a new LP I always wonder why the hell you play the tutorial when you already know how to play. And then I looked down at the comments and saw the simply retarded questions everyone was STILL asking >_>

  • 4E hate! Hooray! Down with the 4~

Also, once again, a marvelous choice of game.

  • His feets are at the ends of his legs :)

  • hmmmm, i would play this game, but I rather have voice actors. Rather than having to read paragraphs upon paragraphs.

  • Why is the guy going "okay / yes sire / at once"? -_- I thought this was about role playing the character, not role playing a commander or a god to the character.

  • I effin' hate the spell system in D&D.

  • Damn, I never understood these types of games. By hard I mean 2000 different bits of stuff to remember without witch you fail in five minutes.

  • fantastic! always wanted to play this game :)

  • Great choice of let's play. I always wanted to play this, but the reports of it being buggy as all heck is kept me away.

  • kind of looks likes Baldurs gate.

  • Never heard of this game! From which year is this?

  • Ahh, the rat. Like a rite of passage for every adventurer.

  • This reminds me of "Diablo" and "Diablo II". But his one looks more organized and well made.

  • I'd advise not to use the latest unofficial patch, the beta one. I found it very buggy and it worsens the performance noticeably. Use the stable 5.0.0 version.

  • Going back to the genre of games that made you an LP superstar in the first place, eh? Looking forward to how this turns out.

  • A very good game. But it needs unofficial patches to run properly.

  • awesome!

  • awesome!

  • And the game sounds is a bit too loud

  • That is solved in later videos.

  • ''you'll notice that these skills are pretty good''

no i wont, i dont know anything about this game xD

I think i might be able to enjoy this LP anyway

  • @DomEReapeR yeah, version this and version that.. i never cared for 'classic' rpg's at all, maybe now this will change, maybe not. :)

  • and what on earth is a 'd20'? some kind of randomgenerator system? :))

  • @bamdadkhan I'm sensing sarcasm here, but the internet is notoriously inaccurate for those things so I'll just pretend you're serious. A d20 is a twenty-sided dice. It's commonly used in pen-and-paper style RPGs like D&D.

  • @Ixthraxus thank you. i was serious. :) i'll read up on the rest. anyway, interesting concept and game, looking forward to it.

  • OMFG!!!! THIS WAS MY FAV GAME BACK IN THE DAY. I used to be amazing on it ;)
