Its rather pointless to have such TDI in this ugly Audi... Why not put it in R8? That would make sense. Q7 is in fact one of the ugliest cars i've ever seen. Even if they make it faster than an M5 in a straight line i would never chose a Q7 over a real car...

The Q7 is an amazing piece of work. Same goes for the M5 but woah that was a good race. One thing bothered me though, diesels are all about efficiency and range so whats the real point of a massive V12 diesel?
I would like to see a V12 diesel in a lighter car rather than an SUV and see how well it does.
The point is to make an SUV fast but still delivering decent MPGs, just imagine how much gas they would use had this been a petrol, plus it's deisels that have the torque. And for a huge SUV that's what you need.
So, q7 weighs only a little bit more than the heavy arse m5, and has only 10hp~ less, and keeps on the power curve more of the time cause it has top torque from 2000rpms.
If the V12 TDI has got as many problems as the V10 one, you'd better not buy it! More than this, the sound is horrible and I don't see why they build a powerful and very expensive TDI which have been designed 20 years ago to be economical car..if you can afford such an expensive car, why don't you buy a Cayenne with a much more lovable sound and a smoother engine??? VW doesn't have very smooth diesel engines lately, but they rev higher. So I guess by the time it ain't so smooth anymore shift down or use the clutch (in 1st). Sorry folks, Kheops is right, modern diesels have caught up with petrols power wise but the reliability is gone: dual mass flywheels, turbos, injectors, swirl flaps, MAFs all go wrong on modern diesels & cost a small fortune to put right, you can't use a diesel on short trips either cause the EGR valve cokes up & then you're down on power. Yes petrols go wrong too but diesels cost a fortune to repair; petrols don't, petrols usually have cheap to fix problems like coil packs, MAFs or O2 sensors.
And btw....The masterful V12 TDI engine is the best engine there is!!I'm thinking of buying one of these but there a bit more expensive than u might think. In my country the starting price is 190k euro which is a lot more than I paid for my RS6...!Still amazing car but definitely just a bit overpriced! TDI's are the most realiable engines on the market.
This engine is brand new and although the TDI badge has been worn by many engines the technology behind them has improved time and time again.
Sound is a matter of taste, and about taste you can't argue. I like the diesel's sound.
If you want a smooth engine diesel is ALWAYS the best choice.
When it's economical you have to stop at the pumps less too, something rich folks would probably really like. Ugh, the sight of common folk.

Sorry folks, Kheops is right, modern diesels have caught up with petrols power wise but the reliability is gone: dual mass flywheels, turbos, injectors, swirl flaps, MAFs all go wrong on modern diesels & cost a small fortune to put right, you can't use a diesel on short trips either cause the EGR valve cokes up & then you're down on power. Yes petrols go wrong too but diesels cost a fortune to repair; petrols don't, petrols usually have cheap to fix problems like coil packs, MAFs or O2 sensors.

And btw....The masterful V12 TDI engine is the best engine there is!!I'm thinking of buying one of these but there a bit more expensive than u might think. In my country the starting price is 190k euro which is a lot more than I paid for my RS6...!Still amazing car but definitely just a bit overpriced! Oh and btw i saw a comment about the M5 G-Power....did u know that G-power = GAY POWER!!If not...glad to tell you! Bye Bye BMW!!

because the v12 is a 6l diesel and the 4.2v8 is a petrol which revs 50% higher but has half the torque (just a rough guide)

Audi R8 "World Performance Car" International World Car of the Year (WCOTY), Audi RS 6 once again voted best vehicle in its class in The Sportiest Cars 2009 i had a look at it yesterday seriously it is a MONSTER what a beauty Audi more or less it is simply the best.
