In the street fighter series the animations do make a difference; it affects the timing. In Street Fighter III for example, its easier to tag Hugo with a dragon punch than it is to tag Zangief in IV, because the animation in III is smoother. If a player has good anticipation skills and good timing they can do the same to Zangief; Zangief can be tagged with a flash kick, or by the uppercut bros. LMFAO you and me both. The grabbing animations in SF II and IV are just cheap as hell; one of the things I hate about Street Fighter IV is "magical grabbing" syndrome. Their arms are like, nowhere even near enought to grab somebody, and yet your guy magically drops their guard without putting up a fight, and lets the other guy grab him. Its fucking annoying, and Zangief is a grab spammer. The key to getting around that is to spam the jabs and rapid fire combos.

Zangief is annoying, but he's not cheap. The thing people forget about SF is that there are different kinds of fighters. People like Zangief or T. Hawk aren't cheap but they are annoying because they are grapplers. You have to stay away from grapplers because they could always grab you out of attacks and it's insanely annoying.
