...one of my favourite songs of the 80's. It has a remarkably clean, tight, ambient sound which sets a nice stage for the vocals. The sparse guitar parts are especially delicious.
this is truly an all time great. the only other song i get the same feeling is 'we are the world' by various artists. brilliant absolutely marvellous. thanks for posting!
i heard this song on radio after all these years, and it was the day after my good buddy MARVin Passed away. ANd yes he worked the nite shift at times, COLD CHILLS. THIs song reminds me of him, and i will listen to it often as a tribute! HE has found a new home, and he is not alone! WE love you MARVIN (the veterans of WV.!
Lionel was a good lead singer and good luck to his little girl and her new baby - BUT - the Commodores was the group that brought him stardom and they were the rock behind the pebble. If Lionnel was so great, why isn't he mentioned in this song. I think I'll play this again for the 6th time and probably play it again. Enough said.
Such a wonderfully lovley song, really makes me feel the song and think conceniously about it and not just hear it in the back of my head. Wish there where more like this : (

The sentiment for Marvin and Jackie, the excellent lyrics and great melody / arrangement all make this a timeless tune. Just great.
