I once had a whole backpack full of books run over by a moving truck and afterwards they were still usable. I have paperbacks that were printed in the 1950's and are still readable and that's without acid-free paper. These electronic gadgets are great but they don't have the durability and longevity of a book. The book's simplicity of design is one of it's great strengths.

I love new technology but let's not become so enamored of it that we forget its weaknesses.

It's interesting... Everything changes, but I think publishing will be around for a long time. The TV didn't kill radio, the car didn't end horse-back riding. It's a matter of convenience and cost vs. preference. I don't see how anyone can deny the value of having so much information available in a light-weight, easy to access tool... I can't wait for those paper-thin, wall-sized monitors to hit the market at a reasonable cost. Personally, I LOVE technology...

Looks wayyyy too fragile to me. Plus how big is that screen, it looks like 10 inches or something??? Maybe after they get bigger screens and have more protective accessories for them we'll see more of them. Until then I can't really see a practical everyday reason to have something so expensive and delicate.

Will be very cool for school kids though. They won't have to carry 50lbs of books anymore. Just a CD or two of digital textbooks. That's pretty cool.
