This song was so far ahead of its time. Since it didn't sound a lot like Cyndi there wasn't a lot of air play. This was recorded after she'd had vocal cord surgery to repair years of damage. I remember having the single on cassette. I'd love to see a new singer cover it or maybe even Cyndi re-release it.

@LobOverTheBackhand I love Hat Full of Stars AND Sisters of Avalon from the 1990s - for me - they are the best albums she ever did - it is funny what time will do - cause I always preferred Hat Full of Stars in the 1990s - but for me a couple (only a couple) of the tracks sound dated - and Sisters of Avalon was and is very fresh for me still - it is a toss up now - but yes - Hat Full of Stars is a wonderful ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!

Screw the business smarts - screw the industry - Cyndi has genuine talent - this is a very moving well written song with strong vocals - cyndi has longevity! I remember when this song came out in 1993 and it was not in - well time is the real measure - and in 2011 - this song is in!

Ironically, Madonna's confusion about her sexual orientation made her performances and lyrics, and private life antics sexually charged and guess what? Sex sells. Cyndi was gay, and comfortable with that, it made her more secure. Her lyrics and performances were fun but they were clean. But i was too clean.
