12 isn't so bad in a 10 or less lane but at the supermarket I go to, there's a 12 or less lane and when ppl pull up with like 20 items, ppl stare and they get all uncomfortable and fidgety heh I hate those ppl..
I used to work at a grocery store and I hated being the cashier on those registers. You couldn't say anything to the customer with more than the number of items because they would be a jerk about it. And then if you didn't say anything to them the next customer would complain to me as soon as the first one walked away. Dont ever be a cashier, You wont ever do anything right.
@Imghey123lol Trololol I know it's like, this is YOUTUBE. Why do you fucking care about grammar? Worry about it in a fucking English Lit exam, not YouTube of all places.
I accidentally took my cart to a 10 items or less lane once because my friend was working there. We had 150 items and he engaged boss mode and flew through all of them in about 5 minutes. Felt like a dick for doing it, though.
I was a cashier for 5 years and honestly, I have only had one person complain about someone putting 3 more items on the belt. I can understand if they have more than 15 when the limit is 10, but come on. It takes us 2 seconds to ring through each item. I told the person who complained that they should have left their house earlier if they couldn't even spare 6 seconds of their life. If anything, by complaining they made it take even longer.
@419797 The correct way to say it is actually "10 items or fewer". @jonst26 is right. You probably only think that "10 items or less" is correct because that phrase is most commonly used.
@419797 I am not wrong. In fact, it is you who should return to "schoollll".
Just because many idiots agree on something, it does not mean that it is correct. Also, if you had taken your time to look at all the comments you would see I am not alone in correcting this mistake.
The idea that less can’t be used with count nouns isn’t well supported; it’s a rule that hasn’t ever been strictly followed, especially for count nouns that can be perceived as masses. Groceries lend themselves to perception as a mass, so it’s no surprise that “10 items or less” is favored now, just as it has been historically. Please stop complaining about this. Damn.
@jonst26 It even says in the video at 0:20 on the sign itself that it is 10 items or less. Perhaps it might be different in the place you shop, but in most cases it's 10 items or less. I know people have already said this to you but... they were kinda rude about it.
That's really unnecessary... srsly. How long could it take to scan 2 more items? 2 seconds maybe... how long could it take for the cashier to cancel the purchase? 2-15 minutes, depending on the organization and moment of day.... how long would an argument go for... quite a while...
I say you suffer the darn 2 seconds and get over it...
This happened to me yesterday. I was in the 1-8 items line and the guy ahead of me had 9 items. I had 2 items. I wanted to tell him to let me ahead of him in line because I was within the limit.

In the Australian supermarket I work at, we have a "15 items or less" rule.
When a customer rocks up with an entire trolley full...I tell them to go away.
That rule is there for a reason - don't make everyone wait because of your ignorance.

Yes, it's douche-ish to complain about 2 items but it's at least equal if not more douche-ish to not be able to count past 10. Really, people
