I used the specified amount (5% i think?) of the pot. dichromate. Some people/formulas suggest using a small amount of magnesium along with the magnalium. I didn't use any in this and the magnalium wasn't coated with dichromate. Just the 5% in the comp.
I think i used 3% mineral oil- instead of the NC. The only thing was all the chems were very fine and the magnalium was 325m. I just screened all the chems then added mineral oil to them inside a ziplock.
did you dissolve the mineral oil or is that not neccesary?
my magnalium just happens to be 270m, guess ill try that out very soon.
already did a strobe rocket once but the strobing was too slow and totally missed the popping sounds, guess my nc laquer was too concentrated and/or the chems were too coarse
Good question- sorry i made a mistake it's 1.75% mineral oil dissolved in coleman fuel (i think i just used naptha)- added it to the mix, mixed it around then let it dried...
I've also heard people having bad strobing from bad quality chems (i think specifically the barium sulfate)... Were you using your 270m magnalium? I think you would have good results with fine chemicals, the 270m, and the mineral oil.
sounded gr8!!!

Nice one, did you use K2Cr2O7 in the strobe or is the mineral oil/NC enough to protect it from the Mg + NH4ClO4 reaction? 5*+

I think 275m would be best if you can get it...
