  • I lived across the street from this building and was in total shock when I went out the front door and saw the building with shooting flames and very little water to put it out. It made me feel very unsafe and not at all desiring to renew my lease. The building was long neglected. I don't know what it's like now. It seems like the new management was trying to make improvements. Kudos to the firemen that worked for hours to get it under control.

  • it takeing to long to get water to it . you have tank water . and did not use it at all.

  • Is Granada Apartments the same as Granada Garden Apartments? I'm trying to move to Erie PA and I found Granada Garden Apartments advertised as apartments available for rent on Craigslist and I want to know whether or not it's a scam. Has the apartments been repaired already since the fire?

  • @MrWable25 Yes, they're the same apartments. That fire destroyed that building. It was torn down and hauled out of here. They have since started to build a new apartment in it's place and it seems to be in the final stages of construction. If you do decide to move here, try to get that building. The rest of the buildings here are old and dated and leaky. To be completely honest, it's an ok place if you need cheap rent. If you can afford more, avoid here and find something else.

  • I was there. In my backyard

  • at least no one was hurt, but i'd NEVER want to live there!!!!

  • it is a very hard job. but i am an emt and that was a rough one for everyone that lost everything and anything my prayers are with you

  • This is the same fire I saw on the news. It is bad.

  • I lived at 1606 Sunrise for about three years. This tragedy was only a matter of time. Everything is so outdated and they never do any renovations to the buildings or electrical systems because they rush trying to put new tenants in there. Something must be done so this does not happen again. I feel for the tenants who lost everything. You have my sympathies.

  • ya this sucks. but did you know that the smoke detectors are not hooked up like they could be? most fire alarmsgo to a dispatch center. Granadas alarms do not. ,If you dont call WE DONT COME!!!!!!!!! I was told from a tenant the alarm was sounding for over 30 minutes before a call was placed to 911.

    THAT SUCKS from. KFD fireman.

  • i watched this from my balcony...my building is right across from it...scared the shit outta me

  • No kiddin'...

Scared the shit outta me too. I'm in the building right next to it. Must admit that I started to panic a little bit when they started hosing down our building. And talk about not being able to sleep at all that night. Constant paranoia...listening for fire alarms.

  • yea thats what i worried about..cause the buildings are so close together and all the trees..i had to be up early for work the next day but i def couldnt sleep until i saw it was getting under control...i would of been freakin out if i lived in the next building..did u see the other comment i made, there was this guy outside and he says its not my building i dont care...yea i ripped him a new one..thats so ingorant, some ppl just dont care

  • yep...saw your comment about the dickwad who said that he didn't care cuz it wasn't his building. there are ignorant people in this world....he's one of them.

I couldn't get over how bad it smelled up here yesterday. You could almost choke on the air.

  • As a firefighter from a mutual aid department to Kearsarge. The efforts exerted by everybody their were nothing less than honorable. I pray Granada and Millcreek Township can find a way to better the water supply to ensure this doesn't ever happen again. Im sorry to all of those who lost their lively hood in this massive blaze. BVFD FF

  • I live at 1805 Treetop Dr, and I feel bad for those who lost everything in the fire. I am sure they are devistated....

Thank you to all the volunteer firefighters, they too, put their lives at risk....

  • yea and this one guy outside said well it aint my building i dont care....yes i told him all about himself.

  • Which building was this at? I used to live on treetop drive...

  • 1809 Treetop Drive...

  • I was one of the firefighters at this blaze, Im sorry we couldnt do more, but the fire hydrants around there are horrible

  • Every single one of you were awesome...are awesome!

  • you did an awesome job...i was almost in tears cause i was watching and saw you guys on the ladders and the smoke just billowing in your face and u still stayed up there...you guys are heroes no matter what and alot of people appreciate that...you shouldnt apologize..you did good..wasnt your fault granada is cheap....THANK YOU to you and all the other firefighters.

  • Perfectly stated twiztd1z!

They are true hero's. I've always admired firefighters and now I have a deep appreciation for them.

  • I am a Belle Valley firefighter who often assists Kearsarge and its great members, and your appreciation of our job goes a long ways. We are sincerely sorry that their was nothing within the relm of capability for us to do to save the personal property lost in this fire.

  • They need to seriously bulldoze that entire granada into the dirt. Them places are soooo old and dumpy. Start from scratch and just build whole new apartments.
