  • Oh wow that is quite a ways away! Did you use to live here? Your layout on this video was amazing! Nice work. And thanks, I'll check with the clover leaf.

  • Hey thanks for the quick reply. Do you live in Yakima? If so, do you, or do you know of anyone who repairs engines? I bought a brand new steam engine (was made in the late 70's but had never been used) and can't get it to run right. Thanks.

  • @MustardTiger509 I live in England, quite a way from Yakima....!! The Clover Leaf in Union Gap might be able to help or point you in the right direction.

  • Very nice layout! Looks great. I'm new to the train hobby, and was wondering if and when Yakima has any train shows? I went to one in Toppenish a few months ago with my father-in-law, and I see that the west side of the state has quite a few, but couldn't find anything in Yakima. Let me know. Thanks!

  • @MustardTiger509 I've not heard of any, although you could ask at a local Hobby Store as they should have flyers for shows in the area.

  • Excellent. The trackwork and camera work is outstanding!

  • Dude this is an awesome layout.. for a couple years.. (}more like 15) i've been wantin to do a layout or the yakima Rail Yard and track to Wapato.. im glad to see that im not the only one wantin to show off the yakima area.. =P thx

  • Most of you might have seen my image site containing photos of the YVT and my modelling. Unfortunately, the hosting company "fotopic" has gone into administration, with little chance of my or anyone else's galleries re-appearing. Whilst this is annoying for me, there are plenty of others who relied on this service as part of their business or with larger collections who have been greatly inconvenienced and left financially out of pocket.

  • Is there a club in Yakima I'd like to check it out if there is

  • @selah64 I'm not sure if there is, try asking at the Clover Leaf in Union Gap or Boxcar Hobbies if it's still open.

  • This is really cool and really helpfull lol because I model the Petaluma and Santa Rosa, like the Yakima was a fruit/agriculture line, and this really helped for some of the planning to see 1 like this in real.

  • Andy, it's an understatement, but your scenery is incredibly realistic! Weathering of your structures and rolling stock, the varying shades of grayish colors on the street to indicate wear from the traffic and weather, and the variations in your grasses are excellent. Have you submitted an article and photos to Kalmbach's Model Railroader Magazine?

  • If you don't mind me asking, what did you use to make the tall tufted grass shown from 0:20-0:35? I want to make an abandoned spur on part of my layout, and that would be perfect to put between the rails to simulate overfrown weeds and grass. I've seen people selling grass and undergrowth, but never anything like that. Just thought I would ask. BTW, awesome layout! :)

  • @crazyfvck The lighter grass is Woodland Scenics FG171 Field Grass-Natural Straw, the smaller tufts are a product called Silflor, which you can find on eBay.

  • @AndyGautrey Thank you! :)

  • This is one amazing layout very well done! You lighting functions are amazing too. Keep up the amazing work on this neat layout!

  • Was that locomotive in Model Railroader?

  • @tjmfishing Yes, January 2010.

  • Wasnt this in TRAINS magizine?

  • @dogrichmancat How recently...? I have October 1975 and February 1984.

  • Beautifull!

  • This is like running the real thing. That is exactly how the YV looks with the scenic representation and environment. Good Job!

  • Awesome layout but why so slow???

  • The YVT had a 15mph limit, besides my wife was operating...!!

  • how is the layout powered

  • DCC, at that show I was using a Lenz Compact & handset, I think it was also sold as the Atlas Commander in the US. I now use a NCE Powercab

  • nice lighting effects!

  • Whats the story of the Yakima Valley line?

  • I find it fascinating because it used electric traction for so long, and the Line Car is so unusual. If you want further reading check out Ken Johnsen's "Apple Country Interurban".

  • Nice layout!! I really dig the nice detail job you did on this. Nice work.

  • what was the scale

  • its HO it says in the title u blind???? lol

  • Nice layout and good solution for the trolleypole in the fiddle yard. Any chance seeing your layout at an exhibition in mainland Europe?

  • I saw this at Trainwest in 2007, awesome layout really gives a feeling of the USA.

  • Great video! were the diesels scratch built?

    Excellent layout!

  • Which diesels?

  • How did you do the staging?

  • Holly shit! thats great!

  • Great layout

    5*****

  • How does that staging area work? It looks relly interesting the way the rails are designed.

  • Fabulous work! Is layout similar to the Walla Walla Valley featured in MR and MRP? Great work!

  • The prototypes were very similar (although the WWV dieselised in the 1950's), and the layout you mention inspired me to model operational features from a route, rather than just one complete area.

  • Now that is a great layout! Great work.

  • Wow! Nice smooth running trolley locomotives. I gather all the engines were hand built. Terrific layout and I agree, "the attention to detail is amaging!"

  • Very nice. The attention to detail is amazing!
