These mesh masks are somewhat moldable. I use the full lower mesh mask (not sure the gen) but I pinch the nose area of the mask so that it fits right under my Flakjaks. In fact, my Flakjaks overlap the mask a little bit on the upper portion of the mask, protecting my eyes from the bottom, still maintaining seal on the sides, and on the top - in addition this allows me to have full range of view not impeded by the contour of the mesh mask.
If I wear glasses do you think It would be ok if I were too wear my glasses with a gen1 or 2 half face mask along with my glasses or would I need goggles? I'm blind in my left eye and still new too airsoft.
You would probably want to look at the Heroshark. I made two videos on the Heroshark. Be sure to watch the later one which demonstrates the removeable ear covers for use with helmets.
@USparatroopersurgeon i had the save phace and for me it was a waist of money... the fogging was unbelievable .... to a point when absolutely no view.... also the foam fell out while i was playing and i lost it becuase i didnt relize it.... and some srews fell out! but it u want a face mask go with this combo
wow, I was stuck choosing between a cheap neoprene mask or just shelling out a few more bucks for the striker and, after seeing this great review, I bought the striker and haven't regretted it.
A question: Who would be shooting that close to some at any point during an event? I completely understand the purpose for the demonstration, but it is a little impractical in my opinion.
I have documentation of exactly that happening at two fields where I have played. I like to think that both were accidental. CQB environments can have surpising events occur due to the speed and proximity of the play. We all hope that experienced players would call a bang kill or parlay, but accidents can and do still happen. My experience caring for injured patients affirms that if something could happen to cause an injury it will happen sometime to someone.
You get better protection for a much lower price with the Hakkotsu compared to V1. V2 adds ear protection, but it costs more. Let your wallet guide you.
my closest field sucks soo much!! i cant even wear the gen4 with revision goggles!! i have to wear a stupid paintball mask i cant even use my EOtech on, i was allowed to use the gen4 with goggles before idk why they changed the rules
Hey doc airsoft you should take a look at the black bear airsoft raider mask a very good copy of the brass guard version matter of fact i have review on one
Just imagine the best player ever, plinking noobs left and right, double wielding SAWs while lobbing grenades with his teeth... and you will have an idea of what I think the guy looks like who keeps me enternally dressed in my deadrag.
Thanks for speedy replies. I wear glasses so the issue of fragments isn't as big a deal for me. Could you do a video on how different types of goggles and masks work over glasses? That would be very useful.
I have very limited data on wearing eyeglasses. The better goggles like ESS and Revision are made to take Rx inserts. The best product I have had is the Eye Tactical CM 110 which allows wearing eyeglasses without a problem.
I meant a more in depth review. Your models appeared to be too lazy to do anything other than stand around in them. This video was good, as you showed the mask in use, cheekweld and such.
Thank you for noticing that we try to improve our videos when where we can. I no longer have the Praetorian, but I would not spend time making another video of a wire mesh product that covers the eyes. I prefer to concentrate my work on other types of products when comes to the face, like lower face masks or solid barrier eye protection.
Your finding mirror mine. I did an extreme testing with these items.. They held up nicely. I wear the Vers 2 regularly and it performs well. I also had to wear my Goggles OVER the mask for better protection, and better comfort.
If you ever get a chance, try the new Heroshark with the removeable ear covers. He made mine to fit with my ESS Profile. It is really cool to have the mask and goggle work together without having to push the goggles down on the front of the mask.
@auburnmedicalgroup I am actually in the process of ordering one now. Thanks for the input and recommendation. I just had to convince the Wife that I NEEDED a new mask. lol. Thanks again.
The Revision Desert Locust and Revision Wolfspider both fit well with the Hakkotsu Iron Face. A video demonstrating this will be released in the next two weeks.
I got one of those Gen1 Striker masks, and it's not the most comfortable. But when I do get it to fit right, my mustache whiskers poke through. Kinda annoying.
Eh as with all sports theres risks (and rewards) to this sort've thing. Personally if I was to pickup one of these masks I'd have Baklava under it, or go for a full mask like something by Cactus (with goggles under it, ofcourse) or Save Phace. Sadly the Cactus Hobby masks are video-game based (although not to big of an issue), and Save Phace masks can have a small impact on your ability to get a proper cheek weld.
Would the gen 2 work with the revision bullet ant goggles and could you wear it with a mich 2001 helmet?

I would expect it to require some modification. You might want to use some pliers to bend it into a tighter fit.

@auburnmedicalgroup can't you just stick a pair of full sealed glasses over the mesh (does defeat the purpose of mesh though)

Fragmentation results from cheap BBs with close impact and high FPS, not because of the mask.
