So wonderful, I think this is the best Athena Jezik video to date. Corrina looks so peaceful & beautiful, and Athena is full of wisdom as always. I recently had my very first massage, and am now looking into doing it as a career. Athena, you, and Psychetruth, are a big part of my decision to do so. :)
I was a victim of the pharmaceutical industry as a young kid. They told me I was too hyper, and had ADD, and started pumping me with meds when I was 7. I don't blame my parents, they were genuinely trying to help me succeed, I blame my doctor. The meds wouldn't let me eat, and I was always dizzy. Finally by age 17, I stopped talking all ADD meds at my insistence. Those meds were replaced by zoloft, which I took myself off of in August. It was hard, I was very addicted, but I did it :)
@thezebrastripe89 As a society we are obsessed with cheating evolution with drugs. Perhaps you are as you are because society needs unconventional minds to be strong.
@thezebrastripe89 Yeah, what I mean is our modern society tries to put people into neat categories that sum them up like ADHD and to define people's personalities as in some way an illness. There is a theory in genetics called "Evolution of the flatest" and what it suggests is that the species on earth that survive are those who have the greatest diversity in their population and not the least. Instead of thinking of people who don't conform to the norm as trouble we should really
@thezebrastripe89 see do they have something important to contribute to life. Evolution makes a lot more sense of our lives than the christian-judeo view of God because God always seems to be punishing people or seems to be grossly incompetent. The truth is maybe those of us who think differently have been selected by evolution for a reason and we should try and find our talents rather let a bunch of average people turn our lives into a fake illness because we are different.
@thezebrastripe89 You are who you are because nature saw something in your ancestory it liked and gave an advantage to your ancestors. For example, a guy I know is an electronic engineer but he is dyslexic. He has a strong ability in understanding electronics and programming that no one else in his class had. I suspect I have Asperger's and I certainly don't "fit in" but I have unique talents no one else has. You're 22-don't waste your life living someone elses illness. You're not broken!
@titarse100 I completely agree. I am the way I am supposed to be. I was just fine until people told me I was "bad". I am still working on bringing myself back from the insecurities, but it gets better every day. I appreciate your support, you have mine as well. I did my senior seminar in college on Autism, focusing a lot on Aspergers. I think it shouldn't be treated as a condition, but more accepted as a part of someone. All of our unique talents and abilities should be celebrated :)
@ the subject on bottled water : I also agree with Lunartrek, that some bottled water are just the same quality as normal tap water, though most bottled water production are more carefully tested than tap water. But it also depends on where in the world you are situated...
I love watching the Athena videos however they are beginning to get a bit preachy. I don't think the medical industry is optimal either but she makes it sound as if its goal is to harm people...very few nurses, doctors and researchers have spent their 8-12 years in school PLUS their lives and careers to harm people. Back before western medicine, people living "off the land" weren't exactly living long lives and a large percentage of babies died before age 4.
@2003SCT Exactly what I always say. There's nothing wrong with alternative methods but we're living longer lives then ever, the first settlers here in my area were lucky to reach 25, most died of disease or childbirth. A 65 year old was rare.
I disagree with the bottled water theory, however. While some bottled water may just be tap water being sold to people at outrageous cost, many bottled water brands are actually worth the money considering the state of many water sources throughout the country. While I agree it is better to let nature take care of us, we have done a lot to make it difficult to rely on nature at this point. It could be cleaned up and it should be, but, until that time, bottled water is useful.
@Lunartrek actaully alot of good companys have mercury and many other metals in the water such as Ozarka, Aquafina, Fiji, Dasani and alot more trademarks. Reason being is they're not regulated like other prodcue such as meats and vegetables. Many natural spring waters are from local city springs... So I disagree with you Athena is correct.
@chavamma So you feel it is OK for Coca Cola and Pepsi to go to third world countries or small communities and siphon up the water profiting by it? Even during droughts when the community has to ration water, the companies still draw their bottled water? I do not think you have taken a real objective look at the real deal with bottled water.
@athenaraven1 You're talking about an out reach which ofcourse still is bad... quit whining. Yes I would like for both Coca -Cola/ Pepsi to ship Clean healthy water not only to those who can't get any near by and especially those in need. However also to the pople of America and world round.
@Lunartrek Not only is bottled water an issue it is the plastic. View the movie TAPPED. This is a serious situation that should be in the consciousness of humanity. It has a very detrimental impact in more ways than one may realize.
I can't afford massages so I like watching videos about it, at least I can learn more about my body even if I can't receive some assistance with its upkeep. Good video.
Are you talking about the girl who's getting the massage? Her body looks great to me. Maybe it's just me. I'm not sure that she's the same girl who does the weight loss tips videos anyway.
@kuunami She's holding onto some weight on her upper arms, thighs and stomach [you must take into account that when one lays on their back that their stomach tends to appear much flatter]. She's not really "fat," just not firm either.
I am so relaxed. thank you
