  • I found out that there wasn't a red elephant, it was a red SQUID! There was a killer squid in the EWP.

  • so cool to see this on you tube i still have my record of this so cool to hear it sounds so good thanks for posting this

  • It also might be interesting to note that "Main Street Electrical Parade" came about because Disneyland was getting jealous of Walt Disney World and the fact that WDW was getting all of the new innovations. Disneyland was feeling like a unwanted red headed step child. So Disney came up with the Main Street Electrical Parade for California since they didn't have anything like a huge lake for the barges. So the barges were replaced with floats.

  • @bigblanc99 In my opinion Disneyland is a way better park when it comes to dreativity and the fact they care about the smiles on everyones more then the money. I hope they get their Electrical Parade back. I have never heard screaming over the music any where else other then Disneyland.

  • There was an Elephant it the Electrical Water Pageant.

  • There are actually 4 versions of the pageant.

    1. 1971 (Original)

    2. 1972-1976 (Second)

    3. 1977-1995 (Third)

    4. 1996-Present (Current)

  • Was this the original water pageant music? This is the music used for the original '72 Main Street Electrical Parade. The music being played here is tied to Blue Fairy (Baroque Hoedown), All In The Golden Afternoon, The Angry Dragon, Casey Jr., Cinderella, a cut Small World, and To Honour America.

And yes, EWP was a precursor to Light Magic, but we're going to pretend that never happened. Hahahaha

  • @DefconWarningSystem I'm actually not sure if the original Electrical Water Pageant ever used the Disney tunes mixed in or if it simply used Jean-Jacques Perrey's original version.

  • @1983horizons1 I was there in 1976, and as I recall, they did not have the other Disney tunes mixed in with the show. It was Baroque Hoedown and To Honour America. However, there was a record (you know, one of those discs that you played on a record player?) that they sold at the park that had this version. I remember when we got home and played it, I thought- "what's the rest of this stuff?". That year BH did not appear in the Main Street Parade. Maybe because it was the Bicentennial?

  • @1983horizons1 if it only usded the original Barqque Hoedown track, it must've incluuded the disney tunes at some point as a record of the EWP sountrack was released w/ Disney tunes mixed in. idk if that record & the '72-'74 MSEP soundtrack were released simultaneously but both DID have the EXACT same content

  • @DefconWarningSystem That's what I thought too. They use this music for the new eletrical light parade as well.

  • i don't think there are any plans to discontinue it. it's pretty poular. i will say this though, the music could use some updating (they've been using the music from "The Little Mermaid" for 15 years now

  • Did they take this away? I haven't seen this since I was a child!

  • It was still there when I went in October of 2008. I don't think they have any intention of taking it away, but if they do, I'm sure they'll at least replace it with something. It had been close to 15 years since I had seen it, and it was pretty neat seeing it again. :)

  • i miss that

  • When the pageant began in 1971, it didn't have a Turtle, Octopus, Dinosour. Those were added in the second verson of the pageant. This is a list of the foalts from 1971-1980: Sea Serpent Whale Two sea lions playing with a red ball Clam Shell opening and closing Three red hair mermaids Dolphins Three orange fish swimming amongst bubbles Sea Horses Sea King which has red rope connected to sea horses *the floats then changed to stars and stripes*
  • *Hums to the tune of the electrical water pageant as tears form in eyes from happiness*

    :')

  • i have the original picture disc and this is the correct version i got this in 19 75 i believe i only went disney world 3x in my life this is a great tune i was able 2 download it a few yrs ago now i have it on a home made disney music cd its great thanks 4 showing this

  • If I'm not mistaken, the order runs like this

-Original music (Baroque Hoedown) by Jean-Jacques Perry and Gershon Kingsley

-Discovered by Disney show designer Bob Jani

-"Remixed" with new synth by Paul Beaver (of "Beaver and Krause" fame)

-For MSEP (Main St. Elec. Parade) in '78, the show was again remixed with new compositions by show designer Don Dorsey, a long time Disney vendor.

-The show has been re-arranged several times since that time, the latest being the version running at DCA

    -THX

  • @thxapproved 1971 was the first time it was used by DSisney for the EWP then used for the MSEP in '72 the soundtrack for both the MSEP & EWP were updated simultaneously in '77 (w/ that version being used until January 2010 at which point the ":Dreamlights" Sountrack albeit modified for the U.S. was used begining in June 2010

  • @Disneydanny Good to also know. But there have been several musical modifications between 1977 and 2010 according to Don. Thanks for the added information!!

  • You know what, you're correct! Sorry!

  • Where can I find THIS version? i'm searching all over it on Frostwire, but I only can find the guitarversion or something.

  • siganme los buenos!!!!

  • no man! is chapulin colorado´s ending

  • Chavo del Ocho song's!!! jaja

  • I remember seeing this from the Contemporary back in 1973. It was a very magical time as a kid for me. Thanks for posting it :)

  • No, this is not Main Street Electrical Parade music, this is original for the water show. I remember going every night to the water to see it when my family used to camp over the weekend at Fort Wild. [This was before the Wilderness Lodge and you could only camp there.] Thanks for bringing back the memories. Great post.

  • Sorry, but that IS the Main Street Electrical Parade music - it's called "Baroque Hoedown." However, I understand that they used it for both...but still, how cool!!

  • Yeah. I agree. I really wish I could see the original version.

  • Absolutely wonderful! You know, I wonder if there were matches to the musical pieces of the original soundtrack in the EWP back in the early days. I've never seen footage of the pageant prior to 1987. I couldn't help but to notice that It's A Small World was cut out of the track. ;) Ran out of time, huh? lol. I guess this is where Jack Wagner got the word "pageant" from for his classic announcement for the Main Street Electrical Parade.

  • i have the main street electrical parade on my iPod & luv it! I really need to see this next time I go to WDW (hopefully next yr, I haven't been in about 2 yrs)

  • Great combination of the current EWP and the old EWP music. I was actually thinking about making a video like this using the old music, myself. BTW, love Handel's Water Music. I am considering making a video of EWP set to the Hornpipe (Water Music)).

  • So the 2nd version of the Electrical Water Pageant, post Baroque Hoedown, had Handel's Water Music in the beginning, ending, and also during the Sea King part? Is that right? It's interesting to note that Handel's Water Music is also Baroque Music. I just looked it up on Wikipedia. Pretty cool, huh? ^_^

  • great!!! I've never seen this but it's fab!! isn't the music from Main Street Electrical parade? it's fab!!! :)
