Aw I liked the music. But I guess if I had any of the other Megaman games for Game Boy I might have liked them more. But this shall always be my first love for portable Megaman.
Come on, the game has awesome music... The only problem with it's the high pitched... But the melodies, well personally I think they're better than Mega Man 2...
usually I keep the spoilers to a minimum, but this game is 19 years old and it's basically a carbon copy of two of the most popular NES games of all time (Mega Man 2 and 3) so I didn't really feel like I was "spoiling" much.
Heh, I remember playing this when I was like 8 or 9 years old. Got through it in a single day. Not sure I knew what energy tanks where at that time :D
Nintendo Power frequently showcased games before they were released (to get people psyched for them). Wikipedia, GameFaqs,Moby Games and a bunch of other sites list it as December, so that's what I went with.
Wikipedia (and GameFAQs/Mobygames to a lesser extent) are not very reliable. But yeah, the game was released in the US on December according to Nintendo's official game list. The JPN version, Rockman World, actually came out in July though, which was six months before Rockman World 2.
wow, cant remember an episode that old :D Oh well :D Then i must suggest Metal Gear Solid on the GBC and MORE great Megaman titles such as Maverick Hunter X and the Megaman Zero series. Great Show, thanks Ben&Nicole <3
I disagree with you about the music. I think it has the best music of all the GB games (and it is the only Gameboy Mega Man that had all original music until Mega Man Zero) and it rivals that of the NES games instead of trying to emulate them.
good episode! i love the voice over style of your show!!! "videogame take-out" is one of my personal favorite indie shows!!! you should do "gargoyles quest"!!!
Maybe the same team developed both games. They could have had all the content planned for one game, but due to memory limitations, had to split them into two games. Could that be why the release dates are so close?
It's possible but very unlikely. The games feel very different from one another. just look at the final bosses. The first game felt so much more like a "real" Mega Man, from the NES.

When I first saw Quint, I thought he was Protoman.
The music in this game doesn't sound too high-pitched, while it doesn't bother me.

Looking at the final boss again, Wily must've shrunk in order to fit in that. Seriously, he looks scrunched up in that dome.

Actually, the first GB game came in August 1991 in the US. It was even reviewed on Nintendo Power on that very month.

I have played it. In fact I mentioned it in episode 3 of the show, where I reviewed it's Prequel Donkey Kong 94 (with Nicole).

i liked the second over the first. the first is also my least favorite of the game boy series, but that's not saying much though.
