  • Stephan Jones was almost as mean as his father. I have heard the tapes in which he beats the people there. I don't put too much faith into what SJones says.

  • Stephan Jones' memoir-- shows that JJ was sick in the head a long time before Jonestown.

This was a really interesting set of videos with this interview of a Guyana native who saw the aftermath himself, who met the people in the beginning.

Communes, and governments, don't work if sociopaths take over and the people are sheep.

  • OH MY GOD!!! People in this world are SO gullible! I can't believe I saw another video claiming conspirisy and CIA behind it, too. People, there is not a U.S. conspirisy behind EVERY major happening in the last 50 years, okay? JHC, I love America, but they can't keep ANYTHING quiet if more than 3 people know about it. So...JFK?...9-11?...now Jonestown(lol). If any of it was the U.S. gvmt, believe me, there would TONS of media and people out to make a million on a book to squeal. (shaking head)

  • Idiots abound. Just look at how many think that 9-11 was an inside job. They seriously think that the same organisations that were either too ethical or too incompetent to plant some mustard gas or anthrax in Iraq after the invasion (to frame Saddam Hussein and thereby justify the invasion) carried out a massive multi-year conspiracy to kill their own people, just to justify the aforementioned invasion. It would have been comparaively easy. Such idiots prove why democracy is so ineffective.

  • Agreed, blue. The same people that call Bush the biggest idiot in the world, charge him with planning and carrying out what would take a genius to do, plus I guess he'd have to be killing each individual that found any evidence, because NO proof has been offered, just that they hate Bush. But Jonestown???It's the first I'd heard anyone say it was the CIA on it too. If the reality of the deaths weren't so tragic, it would be one of the funniest things I ever heard. As it is, it's the most stupid.

  • For an eyewitness of this death, I find this account just a tadbit too sympathetic. This was a big CIA complicit mind control and biological weapons project! /watch?v=L3Wv00GR4o0

  • but thank you

  • All I can say is the people of jonestown were brain washed. Maybe they did try to live peacefull lives but remember that they did kill. Not only them selves but their children and the people on the runway. Jim jones did not drink the mixture he shot himself. Why did he not drink after telling 900 plus to drink?

  • It has NEVER been proven that Jones shot himself.

We believe it was one of his aids/nurses that shot him.

  • it was never proven? but the gun was found in or around his hand the way he was i dont belive he would let someone shot him for fear that some would get out alive he wanted them to kill their selves and if you dont agree than we will have to agree to disagree

  • But see.........it wasnt near his hand....

it was at least 20 feet away.....it was never finger printed either........

Even his son Stephan doesnt believe his dad shot himself.....and I dare you if you ask ANY member of the surviving community, any one of them would agree JJ probably didnt shoot himself.

  • may I ask if you were a member and if so my we talk more about the matter it is very interesting to me what went on in that tim of our history

  • anyone can email me and ask me whatever they want :)

  • yeah but all the people were found lying the same way and in autopsys they all had needle marks in their left or right arm, i can't remember which arm it was

  • umm i don't know what your talking about they didn't have autopsys at all.. they said its obvious what killed them so there is no need to perform 900 autopsys if it is believed you are going to come to the same obvious conclusion every time.. so no autopsys were ever performed.. and cannot be performed. when families recived the bodies they were embalmed so they wouldn't rot in the route to giving them to the families making a dig-up autopsy also impossible.

  • that's just the information I got from a Jonestown documentary, I wasn't there, so I don't know facts, i'm just reciting what I saw/heard.

  • i think you mean 120* feet away actually..

  • asimpson05, no, survivors, those who managed to escape and hide in the jungle, as well as one who hid int he floor board of a cabin there, said Jim had another person shoot him because Jim himself did not believe in suicide. Jim's own biological son, who was living there and is alive to this day, said that

  • His son Stephen Jones, who was in Georgetown with the basketball team says it was proven that he wasn't willing to suffer the way of the others- he went by gunshot to the head, and even then, someone ELSE had to pull the trigger for him. Coward.

  • no, survivors, those who managed to escape and hide in the jungle, as well as one who hid int he floor board of a cabin there, said Jim had another person shoot him because Jim himself did not believe in suicide. Jim's own biological son, who was living there and is alive to this day, said that

  • Thank you for bringing the positive elements of Jonestown to light. We must never forget the tragic end, but we should also remember the good that the Templemembers did and the spirit of their project.

  • Positive elements? They abandoned a normal, mainstream life in the USA where they had infrastructure already built for them (roads, schools, agriculture, etc) and ATTEMPTED to start from scratch in the jungle! lol. The commune concept was / isn't new. It always ends in failure. This one ended in mass death (some of them were murdered).

  • @robertmartinez They were very successful in creating a thriving community in the middle of a jungle! There is no telling how much more successful they could have been with sane leadership!

  • @TusneldaDK

That was just their in their brainwashed minds. Are you saying that it was worth the try????

I cant believe the stupidity of some people.

  • @TusneldaDK

Yes thats a nice well said comment!

We need to remember of the members and what they have done and why so the loss of their life will not be in vain!

  • Thanks for clearing up the hold Jim Jones story. It's was a tragedy but we can learn a lot from the technology these people used in the heart of guyana's jungle.
