Now I'll admit I haven't seen every game that either of them have played but what I've noticed is that while Ovechkin is a better player or at least scorer then Crosby the Penguins as a whole are a better team, not by much maybe, then the Capitals. I think the reason a lot of people hate ovechkin aside from the PenFan hating the Capbest, is that he's at the top of the legue or close in everything but that includes penalties. Crosby could be as good maybe better if he played more aggressive.

I disagree with this. Just because you are Boston, NJ, or Washington you don't need to be motivated anymore? Teams that try this tactic end up surprised in the first round, because they aren't ready to play against teams that, as you said, have been motivated and have been fighting for a spot. Motivation isn't a switch you can just turn off and then turn back on when the playoffs start.
Well honestly, who cares about the whole season? As long as you get in the playoffs it doesn't really matter so much. Seriously, last year the Pens started off under .500 and look where they ended up...2 games short of the Cup.

@ROBLOXovicarlson crosby is better then ovechkin on defense both effort and skill wise. ovechkin has no effort on d but has some skills when he tries but that never happens. semin played the majority of his career on ovechkins line i am most surely that it only changed about half way through the 10 last season. mike knuble is still good for 25G and is a good leader. ovechkin doesnt backcheck nor forecheck,. backchecking is pretty much the same thing as playing d, but technically you are right.

That's a lot of noise after Crosby's shootout goal considering it was an away game. Caps fans hate Penguins fans a lot more than Pens fans hate Caps fans, and I think the reason is that when it's in the 'burgh, it's almost all Pens fans. When it's in DC, it's nearly 50/50.

It's actually a higher percentage of total team goals with Ovechkin and Semin than it is with Crosby and Malkin.
Further, the Pens have 11 guys with 10 or more goals, the Caps have 8. Gonchar would certainly have 10 too, if he hadn't been hurt.

I disagree with this. Just because you are Boston, NJ, or Washington you don't need to be motivated anymore? Teams that try this tactic end up surprised in the first round, because they aren't ready to play against teams that, as you said, have been motivated and have been fighting for a spot. Motivation isn't a switch you can just turn off and then turn back on when the playoffs start.

Well honestly, who cares about the whole season? As long as you get in the playoffs it doesn't really matter so much. Seriously, last year the Pens started off under .500 and look where they ended up...2 games short of the Cup.
Likewise, the Senators last year were on fire through December but then crumbled and got bounced in the first round.
It's far more important how you are playing in March and April than it is throughout the entire season.

However, at the games, there really isn't much booing for Ovechkin, people here don't spend lots of money on props to make fun of him.

i see lots of abnoxious pens fans at the phone booth, yelling, cursing rubing a shootout win in peoples faces, celebrating by jumping all over a building next to verizon and waving their jerseys then they get on here and say "oh had a nice time celebrating in DC, caps fans are bandwagoneers" read it in this thread, so what this pearson is saying we should of tried to start a fight with these fans and then we wont be bandwagoneers. Right, like I said, every arena has obnoxious fans. Just the way it is. I'm not going to sit here and lie and act like Pens fans are completely innocent. They aren't. However, they are not spending tons of money to buy pacifiers from Alaska (I'm assuming you have heard this story, if not, google it) for an opposing team's player. That is not the same as booing or jeering. It's just sad.

heard about it, though it was pretty original and funny would i do it.....no. But if somone in pittsburgh went out and bought something for ovechkin to pass out at the game i would feel honored, like i said it shows that the fans are afraid of the skill laugh it off and dont take it so serious

he started getting booed because of a) Semin's comments about Sid and b) because of the Malkin/OV feud. also what the main poster said, we don't make it a point to make fun of OV, we appreciate his talent. caps fans were just disrespectful.
you need to chill out and stop being so defensive about the caps. they lost. get over it.

i happen to be russian so yes i do apriciate talent and i play/played hockey myself so i know what i'm talking about. Malkin is awsome so is sid, personally i was at this game and the game before this one, i didnt boo none of them but i see nothing wrong with people that boo malkin,crosby,gonchar or visa versa ovechkin gets booed at almost every rink he plays at. Players that get booed are good players.

well then you obviously don't apply to my comment. i, myself, don't boo other players either, especially OV. however, that doesn't take anything away from the fact that caps fans have become philly fans in the past few years. caps fans are so intimidated by sid that they make it a point to humiliate him, but they can do it all they want since this behavior brings out the best in him. however, it's still not classy.

What's wrong with "huge" celebrations? the only reason why Ovechkin taunted Crosby was because Crosby cross checked him in the back just because of a little bump.

Notice that both of the vids Stompulator posted were game winning goals in the last few minutes of play. Of course there is going to be some excitement there.
Ovechkin jumps up and down like he won the cup after every goal he scores. You'd think after scoring so many goals one would start to act like he's done it before. You don't need to put a mic on Ovechkin because you can hear him screaming from the TV broadcast booth.
