Merveilleux... cette voix tres particulière qui nous aide a écouter les voix de ces petites sopranos, il y en a des milliers. nathalie, malgré ma voix aussi un peu grave, t' écouter ne m'encourage pas a chanter aussi ce fauré.
Yes, @pianogirl97, she is singing in B minor. Everybody know that this music is available in different keys, but if you have perfect pitch, you suffer when you read the music in one key and listen in another. But, besides of this, I would like to comment that I love Ms. Stutzmann, she is a real contralto and are very concious about how to use it properly and how to interpret the music so perfectly. Bravo, Nathalie Stutzmann! I love you!
I love french songs and this is one of the most beautiful. The poem is extraordinary, I enjoy every verse, and for me this is a wonderful rendition of human condition, not just a romantic feeling. Nathalie Stutzmann's voice and singing is perfect, her dark voice is perfect for this mysterious song!
Im sorry folks, but it is a very good version. This is chamber music. If MS or MR X thinks it proper to change the key for whatever reason he/she has, it is fine by me, they are entitled to do so. This is not opera. Let singers re-create what has been done by the composer. Let them breath for a while.
Hello. I am sorry I don't know French but it seems that you are referring to the difference between the score and the audio.. I think you are right but I do not know why it is.. I just wanted to post it because this is one of my favorite pieces by Fauré.. It still serves the purpose you know.. Relative notes in a semitone different pitch..But thanks for the observation and the comment..
@civileso ~ Ms. Stutzmann is singing this a half-step lower than the music is written, and in the video with Kiri Te Kanawa singing, she is at least a half-step higher than the printed score. Haven't listened to the video with Veronique Gens yet to hear what she is singing. Sometimes perfect pitch is a major pain! :~)
@pianogirl97 oh yes... you poor girl, why don't you simply shut your eyes????? and stop that silly comment, if you people ( not only pianogirl) knew something, you'd know that all art songs are available in different keys so everybody can sing them......

A mélodie may be sung in any key suitable to the singer, as long as it doesn't destroy the song.
Gorgeous voice, very aristocratic art. Superb.

I'm learning this right now. Beautiful song. Interesting to hear it in a different key from what I sing. This singer has beautiful low notes.

So, I have to tell in English :-) I just told that the key is semitone down compared to the score; just as you tell :-)

Bien conçu. Mais attention, la version audio est 1/2 ton en dessous de la version vidéo (partition)
